Questions about Protein

I have some questions about proteins and protein shakes.  I really am having a hard time finding protein shakes that I can drink.  I can't have anything with milk because it gives me diarrhea.  I tried Isopure pre-made and this protein bullet thing that have 47 grams of protein in 3 ounces.  My stomach could not tolerate either.  It's almost like the whey protein is too strong.  Does anyone have suggestions on this one?  Also I am about 5 weeks out and I am working up to the 3 ounces per meal.  Sometimes I can get the 3 ounces in but then I find it really hard to eat after that I am full for a very long period of time.  And then I worry that I don't get in enough protein.  I can usually get in the 2 ounces for breakfast, 3 for lunch, and sometimes I can't get much in the dinner.  I was searching for the protein drink to supplement a bit.  It is kinda frustrating.  However I can eat all meats.  Haven't tried chicken yet but I can do ground beef and pot roast.  Eggs don't agree with me so well.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks to all!!

try syntrax they have lots of flavors and I tolerate them but none of the others. I like fuzzy navel with 8 oz water and 2 oz of oj or right now I drink everyday their cappuccino (misspelled) I make it with coffee, water and 2 tablespoon fat free French vanilla yummy I make it with 8 oz water mixed with one scoop then add coffee (or it clumps) go to best price nutrition . com sorry spelling sucks!! anyway they sell it cheap there I get 2 2.5 pound jugs of the cap and with **** is about 50.00 but it last and they ship to ill fast because they are in IL I would check out their site and see it is 90 calories and 23 g of protein no fat no carbs. hope that helps Dee

Can you get sample amounts? I would hate to buy a whole thing and not be able to tolerate it.  Let me know. Thanks for the info!!  Bad thing is though I can't have oj or coffee.  So I guess water would be what I would have to mix it with.

I belive if you go ot bariatric eating .com they sell samples of syntrax. You can have decaf coffe still gives it the coffee flavor without the caffine. My doctor wants me to drink 2oz of juice 2 a day to keep me from becomming hypoglycimic or something like that but he also perserves the nerve that causes dumping so I don't have to worry about the sugar in oj. If that doesn't work let me know I could always mail you a scoop of mine to try. dee

I went on the website last night. No samples listed.  As for the coffee I don't drink it (not a fan).  And the acid in OJ has always bothered me that's why I don't drink it.   Plus I am supposed to have any juice products right now.  It is all protein! Seems to be working I have lost 30+ lbs in 5 weeks.  And I started out with a BMI of 39. Not to bad.  The only thing that I am afraid of the whey protein.  It seems to bother my pouch and I feel sick.  Maybe I wil e-mail my bariatric coord and see what she says. Thanks! K

you can get free samples by going to Syntrax website or you can call them & tell them that you are a bariatric patient & would like some samples, also tell them you are having problems..  They have sent me samples twice & are real nice. 866-333-7403 or  SI03.com Hope this helps

I too could no longer drink milk after my RnY I switched to silk and that helped me alot also I use the Whey protein from walmart and didn't have any troubles with it it's about $17.00 for a big tub... When I made the shakes I used 4oz of silk 1 scoop of protein powder and followed the recipe for the added stuff I was able to drink the whole shake... I got these recipes from EggFace on the RNY board I hope they help...

I finally found a protein powder I enjoy (took long enough 8 months of taste testing) I'm so excited about it. I actually enjoy it... No smell, tastes yummy. It's from GNC called Maximum Protein by Energie Nutrition. I couldn't do straight protein either.  But I would take the premixed isopure and mix it 1/2 - 1/2 with Crystal Lite. It tasted pretty good and was the only way I got my protein in for the first couple of months.
Regards and hugs,

Ronna
