So, is everyone here a social worker??
I have my MSW and LCSW. Currently I am a stay at home mom. Awaiting approval for my school social work license as I am also a special ed teacher and would love to be able to do social work on school hours to be home with my son. I can definitely relate to the taking care of everyone else except myself. But I think and hope that has all changed since getting my band and looking seriously at what I need to do for me in order to be successful on this journey.

I don't have a big fancy degree... decided to start working after my associates to get my family in a better place financially.. but I do work in human services for the Child Support Recovery Unit. Still see and hear lots of sad things and work very closely with families. Very rewarding, though stressful at times!!
Yep, I'm another. Got my Master's in 2000 at UT Austin. I work for the American Cancer Society full time and I also do PRN at a trauma center ER here in town (medical social work).
Prior to getting my masters I also did a lot of MR work (esp in behavioral modification) and worked briefly as a QMRP for a little while afterwards.

As others have responded, I am not a social worker. I do however work at one of the countries best Pediatric Hospitals (and have been in ped x-ray for over 20years) so we see way to much!. Add to that, I manage a large department so "play" social worker to my employees frequently!
Hats off to you guys, we would be sunk with out you!

I'm an ER nurse.......no.it's not like it is on TV....... and no our doc's aren't cute.......
I agree with you all......those of us in the helping professions always give ourselves the short end of the stick..........we always do for everyone else.and let things like our diet excersise go....
WIth our new Bandster life... we have no choice but to focus a bit more on ourselves.....its all good!

I am a social worker with a BSW from East Carolina university. I have worked in the Mental Health arena for 13 years. I am currently working in the Emergency Department of our local hospital, doing Psych. Triage for patients that come in eilther voluntarily, or not, to determine the need for psychiatric hospitalization or detox for substance abuse. I absolutely love my job and would not trade it for the world!
Not a social worker, but my BA is in Human Services Administration. I am working in Corporate Finance, which is what I did before my degree and before I burned out of the Human Services field after only 2.5 years........I went into Mental Health Services. If I had to pursue a new career, I am also interested in Bariatrics, I was just telling my DH that this weekend! My other choice would be Intervention Specialist, to pursue my M. Ed. I love to teach as well...........
