As you know I have posted for 3 weeks that I am dizzy. I've started being dizzy on day 2 of the pre-op diet. That was 3 weeks ago. At the same time I started being dizzy I was drinking all the protein shakes And drinking  crystal light and powerade zero. It all has artificial sweeteners in it. As of now Wed night I am not going to consume those iitems too see if I start feeling better. I am 9 dAys post op and need some suggestions on how to get my protein in. I appreciate any  help as I know I need fluid and protein!

Anyone ever use Jay Robb Protein?  He sweetens with Stevia which doesn't impact me negatively. I don't like Greek yogurt. I appreciate any suggestions!  Thank you!

I don't use protein powder that often anymore, but I only use Jay Robb when I do have it. Love it! I don't do shakes, but I do add it to 25 cal hot chocolate, as well as coffee & Greek Yogurt (for a meal).

Fage greek yogurt by itself doesn't taste that well to me. However, you can easily make it taste much better.  Use one 35 oz tub of Fage, and add powdered contents of one box of Jello SF pudding. One initial choice would be the SF cheesecake flavor. Dump Fage into bowl, add SF pudding powder, and use hand mixer to blend. Add 1-2 packets of Stevia if you want to sweeten it slightly.  Pour back into Fage tub. Put in fridge. I put 3 oz into a bowl, add 1 TBSP of my unflavored whey isolate protein, and then add several drops of Torani SF syrup. Stir with spoon. My favorite is Fage cheesecake blackberry yogurt, made this way. Torani has a wide variety of flavors. It's around 20g protein in 3 oz, and it tastes good, especially chilled.  DAVE

Dave, I think I am allergies to artificial sweetners. I came off of them 2 years ago be auss if headaches and now since I have been back on SF products, I have been extremely dizzy. The more fluids i get the worse I am (crystal light, powerade, shakes and etc). So, as of today I am Doin nothing with artificial sweetners to see if it helps. My dr gave me vertigo Meds and they didn't help at all so I do truly think its from artificial sweeteners. Any other ideas?

You *may* get on better with Erithrytol as 90% of it is excreted in your urine. I'd still take it easy though until you know for sure how you get on with it.

You can purchase erithrytol from Amazon.

I don't have any advice, but this is a big topic for me too. I gave up artificial sweeteners like 8 years ago for the exact same reason... massive headaches that magically disappeared when the diet coke (etc) stoppped flowing through my veins. I have stayed away from Stevia too but I'm hopeful you'll get all sorts of advice here so that I can use it too going forward. Good luck on the next 2 weeks. I'll keep monitoring your progress and keep you in my thoughts! E

I find that I cannot tolerate Sweet n Low or a substantial amount of Equal. Diet Coke is an instant migraine trigger. I CAN tolerate Splenda and pre-op would drink Diet Coke w/Splenda - you just can't find it anywhere. With that said I try to limit the amount of Splenda I consume for this very reason. Glad to know it isn't just me who has this problem.

Since the whey protein makes me sick at my stomach and I can't have aspartame, I bought some jay Robb egg white protein powder in chocolate and vanilla today. It is sweetened with Stevia which i can tolerate. Just had my first shake...praying it sets well. I also bought some crystal light PURE that is sweetened with Stevia  I am glad that I am not alone in the struggle with artificial sweeteners.

Another option (if you like sweetened drinks like crystal light) is to make kool-aid using the stevia. My dd did this for me last week because I ran out of crystal light in the house (an almost unheard of thing!). I drink at least 2 quarts of plain water a day, so the rest of what I drink I like flavor in... I'm now a kool-aid addict. LOL
