Good news is ... If you have a hole in your tubing ... It's an easy fix . Worse case scenario they would have to revise to a new band or a different procedure
I JUST RECEIVED a call from my insurance company that ..... She isn't sure what happen or why, but her boss just called her and told her I was approved for my revision surgery and I don't have to wait for the council meeting on May 24.
I DO KNOW what happen .... They were denying me for bogus reasons and I'm desperate and tired of playing their games and jumping through hoops so I called the UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR !!! They got involved and contacted my insurance company. The department of labor got on their butts !!!
Anyways .... This band is coming out May 9 th !!!!!! Woohoo thank you for all of the love and support on this board, and I'll be checking in on the revision board as well!
I wish I could burp! My band has been empty since at least October , not sure when exactly since I had gone for an unfill and there was nothing to take. I've been progressively having problems for 2years now and yesterday my doc said we are taking it out and revising to the sleeve. Be on your doc, listen to what they say, go to the support groups. They will listen if you're trying and fighting.
Why do you want it emptied? Are you having issues? If you are not having problems I'd leave it until you revise imo
My doc is using my original weight to convert to sleeve. Just waiting on insurance approval. They started the process yesterday.
Sheri, how are you feeling today? Been thinking of you, hoping that the pain subsided at least somewhat. I hope you've gotten good news from your insurance company. Or, if you haven't, I hope it comes very soon.

I was banded just over 5 years ago and lost close to 80 pounds. Had a baby about 8 months ago. About ten days I woke up and had no restriction, I keep a tight band so this was very odd. Had aspiration today and 3 CCS were missing. So I must, have a leak :( now what's going to happen? I'm terrified I'll need surgery and I had serious complications after my cesarean :(
If you do have a leak then you will need surgery to fix it. If it is something more serious like a slipped band or eroded band then you will need surgery. What ever way you look at it you will need to have some sort of surgery to fix it. Sorry to say.
Most surgeons warn against keeping a tight band as it can lead to slippage or erosion.
Best of luck to you.
