I'm in BIG trouble now!!!!!!
I know I've posted about my cPap before and how I just "LOVE IT" soooo much!!!! Well, today I have a follow up with the doc that prescribed it, I guess just to see how I am doing! I got a call yesterday to confirm the appointment and they told me to bring my "smart card" with me. So, I called the office to find out what a "smart card" is, cause I had NO idea! Apparently, it's a card that goes into the cPap machine and it tells them how compliant you are with wearing the cPap. Well, problem is, I HAVEN'T worn it since I came out of the hospital!!! YIKES!!! My DH says I don't snore anymore and he actually wakes up at night to make sure I am still breathing cause he says I'm so quiet now. )BTW, I STILL do breathe and I'm sleeping better than I have since I had that machine!!!!) So, crap!!!!! Not sure what the doc is gonna say!! DH was funny, he says " What are they gonna do, reverse your RNY because you aren't wearing your cPap?" So, I'm ready for a slap on the fingers when I get there! Wish me luck! hahaha (I just gotta laugh, it's kinda funny but I'm nervous about it too!!!!!) Thanks for letting me vent again! haha Ruth
My DH says I purr now, don't snore. I never had apnea, so missed the joy of the c-pap. I would tell them, since surgery, you are sleeping better than you ever had, the machine was just TOO much after all the insults of surgery and you were waiting to talk to THEM before you resumed...

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Aww don't worry about it. I would just be honest and tell them the truth that you have been sleeping fine without it since your surgery and your hubby can verify that too. No biggie and try not to stress over it. Now if you were going to see Dr L and you had not been taking your vits Id be worried . Have a great day.
Ruth, I would not be worried if I was you. The whole point of us all having surgery is to not have all the health problems anymore. Sleep apnea is one of those that is almost always eliminated with surgery. And if you DH does not hear you snore anymore maybe you don't need it anymore. Just be honest with them. I am sure you are not the first one that stopped using it after surgery. You have lost a lot of weight so chances are you don't need it.
Just wanted to update....it went OK. She still wants me to use the cPap, but she also wanted me to go have ANOTHER sleep study...that would be the 3rd! I graciously declined..thank you very much! Then she offered me this 2 week titration thing, which would mean I'd have to wear the cPap and the machine would give her info about how many times the machine had to kick-start my breathing....I kinda said ok, but with much hesitancy! So, persistence pays off...and she offered me a 3rd resort! haha....for this one, I only have to wear a pulse oximeter on my finger overnight..without the cpap in place! WOOOHOOO! I jumped all over this offer! ha! So, doesn't really want me to stop using the cpap, but she also said, it's up to me and my health! So, I'm going with how I feel. Hopefully, once I get this pulse ox test done, she can give me her blessing on not wearing the cpap anymore! It's all good! Thanks for the support everyone!!!!!!!!
hey Ruth I just head having Sex with the cpap on makes it great....haha, for you, but not your husband. hehehe, j/k....... hope all works out good so you don't have to wear it anymore. I'm busy finding chairs that fold, blankets and bug spray, you know the drill for tonight, I've long since unpacked my emergency bags...hehe, i'm so excited, got supper made, gardens 1/2 done, now for my shower.... pewwwwwwwwwwww!!! hehehe. good luck to your dgt again. way to go last night. I might not have such good news on my son, lol Honks, cheryl
Hmmm what can they do if you are not compliant with the c-pap Well the big thing is they can take your drivers license away. That is enuf for me to wear it. I also have problems with it and need to get another sleep test this fall.
Also it is hard on your heart and lungs if you need it and dont use it.
But i understand sometimes it is a big pain. I have gone to the opus nasal pillows. I like them the best. I do my best to try to keep the stupid thing on for at least 4 hours. If it wakes me up then off it goes.
Have a great day.
