Topic: How did we all lose track of each other?
Years ago, we used to meet, at the minimum, once per month. It was a time for fellowship, for leaning on each other, for learning from each other, for being with people who KNOW what we are each going through. Having WLS is not easy and the life we have after WLS is not easy. I am struggling and I miss the bond the board used to have.

We used to encourage each other daily. I remember a large group of us getting together at Darla's work for the weekend. I remember us passing along clothes and coats to others. I remember the laughs, the hugs and the tears. I don't see that anymore on this board. I don't know how we all lost contact. For me, I thought I didn't need the group anymore - I knew it all and had it all covered all by myself. I was wrong...

If there is anyone out there that wants to start getting together somewhere near or in Wisconsin, contact me.

Marsha,

I haven't been on here in months, but thought I would look and see if anyone I know is still on the board. I read your post. I am so sorry you are struggling so much. Your honesty and openness should be helpful to some of the newbies.

I don't know what HCB drops are...never heard of them. But whatever they are and whatever they are for, I hope they work for you.

I am still struggling with my weight. I have been working really hard at trying to limit carbs and I am down some, but I still want to lose another 10-15lbs so my clothes fit again.

To all the new people...Don't take the weightloss for granted...eventually you may stop dumping and be able to eat some of your old foods again. Don't even try them! the first few years it's almost impossible to gain weight, once I hit year 3 that all changed. I'll be 5 years out next month and for the last year or more I have been struggling with an extra 25lbs. I am still WAY less than I was and I am still controlling my diabetes without meds, but I feel uncomfortable and have hundreds of dollars worth of beautiful clothes that I can not wear right now. Listen to the ones who have walked this path before you and learn from our mistakes!

WLS New Years Eve Celebration 12/31/2012
As many of you know, this year’s WLS Day of Education and WLS Gala was cancelled. Many of us discussed how disappointed people were to not have a gathering to show off their dance moves and celebrate their new lives. After much research, we’d like to offer an alternative for those interested!
Put your Boogie shoes on and
bring in the New Year!!

The Withrow Ballroom proudly presents:

  The Soul Tight Committee http://www.soultight.com/
The Soul Tight Committee is a ten piece band whose members have found a common love for the old school soul, R & B and dance music of the 70's. They are a blast to dance to, and it
should be a lot of fun!

This is event is open to the general public, so first come/first served!

Time: 8:30pm Cost: $20.00 per person Advanced - $25.00 At the Door Withrow Ballroom & Event Center http://www.withrowballroom.com/index/
12169 Keystone Ave North, Withrow,
MN 55038   Phone: 651-439-5123
(When you call to purchase your tickets, mention you are
part of the WLS group and would like to sit near tables 19 and 20!)

The Withrow Ballroom is nestled amongst farms and horse ranches on 12 picturesque acres just minutes from Stillwater. The Withrow has free ample parking, full service bar, free WiFi,
courteous service, and a
large wooden dance floor!
From formal gowns to Holiday casual attire (Birthdays suits are optional…use your own judgment!!)…anything goes as long you’re there!
Manyof us have made reservations to eat dinner at the beautiful Lowell
Inn in Stillwater at 6:30pm before the dance.

Phone: 651-439-1100    http://www.lowellinn.com (Price to be determined, approx. $20.00)

If you decide to join us for dinner, call, make your reservations early and mention you are part of the WLS group. They are going to do their best to seat us near each other. This is on a first come/first serve basis, open to the general public, so don’t wait too long!
Some of us have made room reservations at the Lowell Inn for the evening. The Lowell Inn has twenty-three historic Williamsburg and French Provincial rooms to celebrate a night away.
Or, if you prefer, their newly annexed wing features twelve contemporary rooms, decorated in Euro-modern décor. Space is limited here, but there are many other fine hotels in Stillwater
to choose from! http://www.concerthotels.com/venue-hotels/withrow-ballroom-h otels/307550
Please join us and celebrate the New Year…it
wouldn’t be the same without you!

Hello Marsha....I just happened to check in....it has been a long time!! Nice to see you post!

What are HCG drops??  I don't have a drinking issue but wow carbs are the monster!! Still trying to work through that...UGH!!

Hope the pain gets better soon too. That is awful!!

I literally almost died last Tuesday. I went into the medical center for a routine test. They gave me the same sleep med they always do. I had a really bad reaction. They ended up calling an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital. Throat and tongue was swollen and I itched  horribly from head to toe. I don't remember it all but I am still here so things worked out. Guess the devil didn't want me....too much competition!!

Good luck!! You know you are very special to me and I love you so much!!

Much love and many hugs....connie d

Topic: It's Monday again! Weigh-in for me, how about you?

Here I am again, bugging you all with Monday weigh-in.  Things are going okay, but I still struggle with guilt over eating--do you?  Maybe I'll carry this guilt with me my whole life; it is deeply ingrained in me.

I think about food a lot.  Seems like I am always planning the next meal, worrying if I will have food with me, etc.  Ridiculous--it's not like we in America are ever very far from a food source!  Those habits of mind went away during the first few months after surgery, but came barreling back when I got to maintenance.  This is why I continue to track my food intake, and feel guilty when I eat "too much."  Anybody else struggle with this?

Starting weight: 298.4
Last week: 141.4
This week: 139.4
Loss of 2.0 lbs

I ran 10 miles total yesterday, so it's no wonder I lost weight.    Didn't run as much during the week, tho.  Only 3 weeks to the half-marathon, yikes!  I discovered that the indoor swimming pool at my new apartment building is AWESOME!  Heated, full 25 meters length for lap swimming and not busy at all, WOOT!

Have a great week, everyone!

Hi I am a nurse in the metro and I work several great plastic surgeons -
Dr. Landis, Harrington, Witzke or Fasching are all fabulous surgeons.  I had a breast reduction with Dr. Fasching 8 years ago and he did a great job and I had very little pain.  I would go to anyone of these docs.

 HI Marsha,

It's good to hear from you. Look for the blessing and let go of the negatives. Oh wait, I'm preaching to the choir again. That dang mirror too!

 Hello,

I am new to the forum!  I had a VSG in February and would love to join the South of the River support group.  I cannot find the group on Facebook.  When and where are you meeting next?

Thanks!
Tamie
