Topic: X post 5 days out from Abdominoplasty

Wow, this was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. I ran out and bought supplies, and prepared my family for the worst, and was convinced this was going to be horribly painful and a hard recovery.
So glad I was wrong. Being me, I did have a complication. When the surgeon got in the abdomen for my Abdominoplasty, he was cutting around the belly button, and cut through what he was expecting to be scar tissue. Instead, apparently my fascia was paperthin from my previous emergency laparatomy following my leak, and probably worsened by my recent pregnancy. When he cut, he went through the fascia and into the abdominal cavity when my intestine became exposed. It was slightly nicked, but he was able to repair it without any problems. He then had to do the muscle corsetting from the bottom instead of the top to find healthy fascia. Surgery took almost 4 hours instead of 2.55-3, but he did an amazing job. He did keep me an extra day to observe me, and because I have had previous septic shock and was terrified.
He put in an extra drain as a precaution. So far, I am getting around really well. He was impressed when he came to discharge me. I have been able to get around with minimal pain. I have been able to shower and take care of myself. I am already amazed by the results, and can't wait for the swelling to go down. He is planning to remove at least two drains on Thursday, since they are putting out very minimal fluids.
Best part of all? My back pain seems to be SOOOOO much better!!! (pics on my profile)

Topic: Last week of June weigh-in: how's that bathing suit fit?
Hi all: it's Monday morning again. This week I confess to much surprise, since I spent the weekend camping and eating and drinking. I thought I'd be up in weight. Although I also hiked, climbed bluffs and rode bikes, so that helped.
Starting weight: 298.4
Last week: 140.8
This week: 139.3
Loss of 1.5 lbs this week
A bit more running mileage this week, Paul: 15.9 miles running, but only about 10 miles that I recorded on the bike. I feel like I rode more, but must not have logged it. Looks like the weather will cooperate more this week for outdoor activities, yay!
Triathlon in less than two weeks, yikes!

Topic: RE: Monday weigh-in rolls around again--join us!
I was at 157.5 last week, today I am up 1lb - 158.5.
I am struggling. I get down to 156, then bounce back up to 159. I don't expect to be 130 again, like I was a year after surgery, but I sure would LOVE to be 145 again. I was happiest at that weight and my clothes fit the best then. I've been struggling to lose these 10lbs for over a year now.
I went for a walk/jog this morning and I had eaten the last of my junk food last night, so hopefully today I will do better as I detox from sugar AGAIN...I dump on rice and bread and potatoes...Oh how I wish I dumped on chocolate!!!!

Topic: RE: Red Wing
I wasn't able to find one in that area. However, I've gone to the "South of the River" informal group that meets every Saturday am at 8:30. It alternates between the Caribou in the Byerly's in Eagan near the intersection of Yankee Doodle Road and I35E. Then the next week at the Panera in the Burnsville Mall. There are some nice people there and have had various types of weight loss surgery. RNY's, sleeves, and duodenal switchs

I live between Red Wing and Hastings, what's your question. Been off for awhile with all the end of year school, graduation things.
Topic: RE: Breakfast ideas
scrambled eggs with fresh spinnach. scrambled in virgin olive oil. it really adds some flavor.
or the above idea and add in a pita or multi grain tortilla and make it a wrap. ricotta cheese is yummy on the wraps as well.
try different meats with your scrambled eggs or wraps
whole grain or multigrain oatmeal. sweatened with whatever you choose. add in fresh blueberries and strawberries. or bananas are a yummy extra as well. i know the protein is not that high in this option but you can add in some protein mix if you wish or a protein shake.
you said you cannot do most cereals. try what cereal you can have mixed with fruit and vanilla yogurt.
crepes (the thin pancakes) with strawberry cream cheese and fresh strawberries or bananas.
