Topic: Question about SSM DePaul's Support Group
I'm hoping that someone from the board will be able to answer this question for me as I know some of you went through DePaul. I had my surgery at St. Alexius. Due to not having a vehicle and not wanting to be at the Rock Road Metro Station late at night by myself (cause I have to take the bus and metrolink), I'm not able to attend the support group and I deperately miss it. I am currently living in the Maryland Heights area. I'm not far from DePaul and taking the bus there wouldn't be very difficult. So, with all that said, can someone who didn't have surgery at DePaul attend the support group there? I thank you for any input you can give me.

I am 4 weeks from surgery and planning to stock up on approved foods, vitamins, protein etc. What is the favorite of everyone? I live South of St, Louis and have GNC nearby. Not many places carry what is on the list,. Will have to order online. What do you all recommend?

Dr. Richard Follwell takes Medicare/Medicaid. St. Alexius New Start is a very friendly office and St. Alexius Hospital is just as friendly. They've all made my experience great. Dr. Follwell is a cutie too so that helps. lol I started inquiring about surgery in August 2010 and had surgery November 3. Once you get approved by your primary Doctor the rest is very swift.

Good to hear from you Lou. I've often wondered about you. Yes, I was glad to see 2010 gone. It was a rough year for my family dealing with my son's alcoholism.
Are you still drinking Click? I have cut back on Click, just got a little tired of it. I've been adding a scoop of Click to skim milk and Unjury protein powder. The Unjury mixes well with a blender ball and tastes pretty good.
Hope to see you posting here more often.

Wow! Its been so long since I've been on here I almost forgot my log in. I've been so busy with work, kids and just life in general. Is everyone as ready as I was to see 2010 leave? Couldn't have happened fast enough for me. I'm looking forward to 2011 and hopeful it will be a better year! It just has to be. My arm surgery went well then I got a staff infection in my right arm. Not a wonder the insision is like 2 feet long. I was on antibiotics for a couple of week with alot of drainage. Its all better now and looks good. I'm very happy with my results. I'm done with surgeries for awhile. I have a couple I'd like to do but they will have to wait to give my body a chance to rest. Two major plastic surgeries in 2 months looking back maybe wasn't the smartest thing but at least its over. My weight is holding the same within a couple of lbs. I've lost 180lbs total. I will be at the meeting on Friday. I've missed everyone! I hope everyone is staying warm. :D Lou

Our meetings are open to Everyone, those who are pre-op, post-op etc and their family members or support personnel.
Hoping you can make it. Our group keeps growing and we have a nice mix of people in all stages of the surgery process. So please feel free to attend even if you are just thinking about possibly having the surgery.
Hope to meet you soon. One of our meetings is this Saturday the 15th (tomorrow) at 9 am.
Have a great day!!

Jan must be busy making the new Cheesecake recipe I posted. I'm making one this weekend.
I have a 3 day weekend. Tomorrow I'm painting our bedroom. DH has promised to paint it but he never gets around to it. I hope to fini**** tomorrow so the next 2 days are for doing whatever I want.
Jan, I started my protein coffee again this morning and it was pretty tasty. I mixed the powder with FF half & half until it was very smooth then added the coffee. The half & half cools it down a bit so I heated it in the microwave for 20 seconds. I also brought a cup of skim milk with a scoop of Unjury protein to drink before lunch. The Unjury tastes pretty good with milk. So, with those 2 drinks I've got 40 grams of protein. Shouldn't be a problem making my 80 grams today.
Beans and ham are cooking today so that's dinner this evening.
Hope all of you are having a great day.

Winning at WLS means achieving a weight that creates the
opportunity for you to live a full, healthy, and satisfying life
-- and then getting out there and living it.
And I have done that. Before WLS I was taking meds for BP, 3/day, acid reflux and cholesterhol. Now I only take Synthroid.
I feel so much better about myself.

Are the meetings just for those who have had the surgery already or for anybody who is considering surgery or waiting on a date?
