I had RNY yesterday....still in hospital actually
Hello all, this is my very first post. I just had the RNY done yesterday at the weight wise center of Edmond. I'm actually writing this from my hospital bed. I'm feeling alright now but I'm pretty sure that I overdid it with the broth earlier. My nurse scared me a little bit by saying that I hadnt drank enough. (I've heard the horror stories of dehydration and I DO NOT want to be that patient) so I sucked down a couple cups of broth and I just feel really uncomfortable. I have to admit that I thought I would be alot worse off after surgery than I am right now. This isn't too bad.
A little bit of background about me....I had the lap band placed in Aug of 2006. I initially lost about 30 pounds (not easily btw) I gained the 30 back plus another 20. So I discussed my options with Dr. Broussard and he agreed to do the RNY. Come to find out.... the lap band has failed quite a few people or quite a few people have failed the band. So I'm through with feeling like a weight loss failure and I have started this new journey with a completely different frame of mind. I really need the support so that is why I'm here. I will write more again later but I am ready to hit the hay.

Congrats on having your RNY, Shauna... I had my RNY almost 4 years ago. I've been very happy with my surgery. I didn't have it at the Weight Wise center, but I've been hearing the great things the wonderful people in here say about it and you made an excellent choice of hospitals. Sorry to hear that this was actually a revision for you, but there is no reason to feel like a failure ever... I'm glad you have a positive frame of mind now, just think of this as a re-birthday and a new chance and you're going to do great! Have a speedy recovery... You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!
