Can I substitute Ricotta for sour cream in nacho dip?

I wouldn't. Ricotta and sour cream taste very different. You may be able to do plain greek yogurt in place of sour cream though. Get a small plain greek yogurt and do your own taste comparison first though. But, I think those flavors will be closer. I use sour cream to make tzatziki sauce if I dont have plain greek yogurt on hand and it still tastes the same, just not as thick.

Other ways to up protein would be to add ground meat & a layer of refried beans or black beans.

I thought greek yogurt would be a good thing to try in there too but unfortunately it's not something we can get around here :(

Oh no!  What about Icelandic yogurt?  It is similar to Greek.  Some brands of it would be Skyr or Siggi's. hmmm.  If not then I would say, try the beans, they are pretty tasty, and add them if you can.  Definitely use the ground meat and just go with the sour cream.  One must make some sacrifices :)

try a health food store, I went looking a few days ago after asking questions here about it.  And sure enough at our Old  Fashioned Foods and our Organic market they have it.

When i make a taco dip, i mix equal cream cheese and ricotta. always did even before surge.

mix cream cheeses and ricotta, layer in dish, pour jar taco sauce or salsa on top, chopped green pepper, chopped onion and then layer of cheese, eat with tostetoes

ACK No!

Sounds like a yummy recipe, but the only thing I'd substitute for the sour cream is greek yogurt.  Ricotta cheese is just the wrong texture and flavor.  Blech.

If you can't find greek yogurt, I'd leave in the sour cream, but maybe consider adding shredded chicken or seasoned beef if you want to increase the protein.

Hi Bev,

Doing pretty good so far.  I'm enjoying the time off work and dreading going back to all that stress.  I go back on May 3rd.

I am 5 weeks out from surgery and I have lost 33lbs since then.  I stalled for a week and a half  at 3 wks and that was frustrating but expected.
