discouraged - no referral sent

I emailed the bariatric registry last night and got a response today that they have not yet received my referral.  My inner thoughts are omg!!! are you kidding me right now.  This is my second fail to have my doctor send my referral in, the first one they sent to the centre directly instead of to the registry, ok that i can accept stuff happens, but wow twice?  So this now means that I have been sitting here patiently since August thinking my referral was sent in and planning not just my life but my family and work life around something that really I'm not even in line for.  It won't stop me from buggin my dr tomorrow to get them to truly send in the referral but I'm not sure if I want to scream, cry or what at this point.  Sorry all had to get that off my chest somewhere.  Thanks for listening.

Sorry to hear about that, but at least you've found out now and aren't still sitting around.

You've got to be pro-active in this.  Keep calling your GP everyday until they have sent it it.  Once that happens, give the BR about a week and email them again.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm going to definately keep up the fight and think of this as just another hurdle that I have to get over to get this done.  I had been waffling about a trip in May as I didn't want to miss a call or an important letter but this pretty much made up my mind that i might as well just take the vacation to help get my mind off of things for a bit.

I would ask them to bump you ahead in the process because of this screw up.

I'd love to see that happen but I'm not sure if I'd feel ok knowing someone else got bumped back because of me.  I dunno not their fault that my doctor messed up not once but twice.

I think YOU were the one who got bumped.

great thought thanks for voicing that to me.  I'll definately be keeping that in mind when I call the doctor tomorrow, will keep everyone posted on what i find out.

That won't happen.  The BR sent my referral to Guelph when  I live 10 min from St. Joe's.  When Guelph sent it back, I was put 'next in line' like everybody else.

I was just glad I figured it out before waiting until now and then finding out.  (BTW:  Guelph still had me in their queue and sent me an orientation date - which I called and cancelled, of course.)

I agree, I wouldn't feel bad either. I am going through a similar situation where my doc can prove that the referral went in on Sept 20 but TWH says they see it went in on November 23. I have escalated my concerns and am hoping to get a response next week! I personally don't want to be 1 day before someone who was referred before me, but I also don't think its right that i'm being bumbped back 2 months. Hopefully it will all work out!

All of you should read the post below about the Ombudsmen.  I'd suggest you all contact their office to express your concerns over your dr. referral, or the centre receiving the referral, etc...
