Reality check: Melting Mama

I may not agree with everything she says (e.g., I am trumpeting "100 pounds gone forever" from the rooftops), but it is refreshing.  I like this line:

Half a sandwich is NOT going to send me back to size 28W.

She does seem to have a lot of unfocussed anger, which turns me off.  I get angry too, but it's usually directed to someone or something specific, and I deal with it and try not to spread it around.

Read my response to newbeginnings - the anger, I believe, stems from frustration, worry and disheartenment with her now present health issues.

And trust me - I SITLL trumpet from the rooftops about my 160 pound loss. LOL

I am going to go read the post as soon as I type this.  I admire her posts {MM's} she is honest and open and when others find themselves feeling like they are overloaded and "dying" she was there to help them understand.

I was one of them.  I also suffer as MM does with the seizures and black outs, horrid shakes so bad people stare and offer to get 911.  It's so scarey and when you feel woozy and your about to loose who you are again boy do you get pissed.

Yes I am extremely proud of the over 200 lbs I lost but I am extremely angry at my body for making me sick because of it.  I now have very bad reactive hypoglacemia and suffer horrible with the seizures, black outs, shakes, tons of side effects that change your life HUGE.....

Fortunately it is not common enough to scare those having the surgery but there are those of us who are afflicted with it and those of us afflicted with it horribly.    I admire how she handles hers, and how she still stands proud of her loss and helps others with or without the same complications.....sometimes when you were hoping to be in the WOW bracket with all the loss and you end up in the faulty bracket it's quite the **** off lolol.

Anyways hope that helps some understand.  I am about to go read her post and tyvm for posting it Karen.  It's definitely going to be educational as I find her to be all the time.

Elizabeth, you DO get angry with your body. You think, "my gawd, I've done everything I can, what the HELL!". I get it.

LOL.  I love my new body yet I hate it haha.  Kinda weird but hey life is full of bumps to climb over.  Just hope my bumps get smaller soon LMAO.

Thanks for posting that.  Even my family went on and read it.  Thought it might help them understand a bit better too.

{{{{{Karen}}}}}  Your always so helpful.  Thanks for still being here.

Karen, thanks for sharing that post. I found it very open and honest and could relate to her on many levels.

I'm glad she was honest enough to share her journey without feeling she had to sugar coat anything for the sake of others. If only more of us were just as honest, not just to others but to ourselves.

I love how she wrote that she eats what she wants because so do I yet I feel guilty telling anyone that I can eat what I want and still manage to lose weight, even at almost 3 years post-surgery. I do have to say though that everyone is different and has different metabolisms so some of us can get away with that, for how long though remains to be seen...I am getting older and nearer to the menopausal stage where I am sure things will change lol.

Hi Gina,

Whens she said she "eats what she wants" - she also was very clear that it didn't include carbs etc because they make her sick.  In reality, I eat what I want as well - I guess I just don't want crap. LOL!

Glad to see you posting, hope you're doing well. :)

So true Karen and I forgot to add that part also. Yes I do eat crap sometimes but a lot of times my bad decisions would be something like a veggie sub and soup from Subway lol. I also have reactive hypoglycemia and chocolate almost puts me into a coma, same with too many carbs. I'm still careful with food but at the same time it does not rule my life. I actually do crave healthier choices

I'm doing ok, stressed out a bit and I think I need to get my anaemia checked up on cuz of some symptoms I am having but I do still come here and read every day, just don't have the time a lot of times to post lol. Hope you're doing well too!

Linda, I was doing good for a bit then stopped again because I was so busy I forgot all the time (poor poor excuse!) but I have started taking them again because I know something doesn't feel right and it's scaring me. I really need to focus on taking care of myself again.
