Ok, first I can hardly pronounce let alone spell his name.  Anyways he's a really nice doctor.  The receptionist first will do a mini stress test on you.  You will have to walk the main hallway with an O2 saturation monitor on your finger.  I think I walked the hallway 2 or 3 times.  Not hard at all. Then she hooked me up and did an EKG.  You will take everything off upstairs and the paper shawl they give you would probably fit my seven year old comfortably.  Let's just say the girls had to be held at all times.  Then the doc checks blood pressure, reflexes, listens to chest etc.  Maybe 5 minutes of a mini check-up.  He will go over your history with you and will decide if there is any additional test you may need before the surgery if he has any concerns.  Otherwise your in and out in half an hour. I just had my internist appt at St. Joe's (Hamilton) this week.  I was told to expect her to check my stomach (poke around a bit), but I only had to answer some questions, she took my B/P, told me my blood test results, cholesterol (all is good) and I was out the door.

I think it all depends on your health.  Since I'm basically healthy, just overweight, I was in and out in less than 15 mins.
