Is it normal to have recurring yeast infections.  I have not had one in a couple of decades, and I have had 3 in the past 3 months.   I am 3 months post op.

How unpleasant for you!  Have you recently changed birth control pills?  Also, how are you treating the infections?  The over-the-counter stuff isn't nearly as effective as getting a prescription for the 1-pill treatment from your doctor.  At least that's what I've found.

No birth control.  Nothing new, unless you count the RNY surgery and new menu that I am eating.

I have one now, almost two weeks post surgery, but I expected one as I was given 2GM Ancef during surgery...that will do it

YES!  I was like you and hadn't had one since my teens (a few years ago).  I've had more than a dozen since surgery almost 3 years ago and it's never been related to antibiotic use or anything like that.

I wonder if it's because our rerouted intestines process sugar (which feeds the yeast) differently.  I can say that I seem to develop them if/when I indulge in sugar more than usual.  My system is VERY sensitive and I can't get away with much at all.

Hopefully this won't be an ongoing issue for you and it's just your system flora settling down after surgery.

Yeast infections can be brought on my antibiotics, diarrhea, changes in diet, etc. Your body will adjust and it will pass. You can buy the one time pill OTC now, no need to see your doc to get a prescription. It's called Canesoral or something like that, the pharmacist can definitely get it for you.

it is most likely due to an imbalance of the good and bad bacteria happened to me I went and bought probiotics and what a difference really helped lots.
Now I take a probiotic everyday to help keep healthy intestinal function. You can buy some that can be stored in the fridge has a higher count of bacteria...or others that are shelf life stable. You can also go to your nearest health food store and talk to one of them..they have so me geared more towards yeast and some for alil bit of everything.
I went on vacation didnt take my probiotic what a difference....plus it also helps absorb food better since they will be working at its best
Have a great day....Kany

Thanks everyone for your answers.  I have taken the over the counter one pill, and I am still getting them.

I have not had a lot of sugar.  It better settle down, or I am going to itch my woo woo right off. lol

Will book an appointment this week to see my doctor.

Thanks again.
