Surgeon's Appt next week - What can I expect?
I was told by the clinic it was 2 hours long. What are the covering in that 2 hrs. (at St. Joe's Hamilton)?

Sorry, I mean Surgery Class, not Surgeon's appt. (And you can't change the title of a thread. GRRRR.)
I've already had my surgeon's appt. on May 17th. Now Surgery Class on June 2nd.

Are you going for the last large group class at the same time? My surgeon's appointment was no more than 15 minutes long. I met with Dr. Hong, who couldn't even confirm that he was my surgeon at the time because I didn't have a date. You will meet which ever surgeon is in clinic that day and he may or may not be your surgeon on the actual day. He confirmed some important info on my chart, and asked if I had any questions, and since I didn't, I was out of there is minutes. Kind of wished I had brought a bunch of questions with me, but honestly, by that point I knew everything I thought I needed to know. Think long and hard about anything you want to ask him because honestly, that was the last time I saw him except for the five minutes in the OR before I was knocked out. I will say this though. I had an important question just before surgery, and he (Dr. Hong) took time to call me from home to personally answer my question. I thought that showed a lot of dedication.
Good luck!
Good luck!
My surgeon appt was only 15 minutes long too. I didn't even meet Dr. Hong or Dr. Anvari, I saw an intern. He basically went over my file and test results, prescribed Vit D, Optifast, Blood thinners, etc....

If you are just seeing the surgeon it could be the wait time to get in to see him. My last appointment with the surgeon a few weeks ago was for 12:30 and I did not get in to see him until 2:40. Have you sign the consent forms yet. If not you will do it that day. You should be no longer than 5 min with him. Good Luck everything will be fine.

Hi Beth,
I saw the surgeon last week and had the surgery class in the afternoon. It started at 1:30 and we were out of there at 3:00. They give you "the Bible" to follow with everything you need to know in it, step by step, and you have to bring it to all future appts. They did a slide show basically following what was in the book. There were 2 nurses there, the dietician, a pharmacist, and someone for diabeties. They gave lots of opportunies for questions.
St Joe's is booked for June and in the middle of June they will start booking for July, I'm thinking I should be in that bunch. It seems like such a long wait and then when the time actually arrives, you wonder where the time all went! Hope to see you again at the next meeting.
