My shopping trip to Port Huron today

______________________________
I went to Port Huron today to buy some things. We stopped in at Walmart and found a few of the things on my "things to buy for after surgery" list. I see other people have lists of what you can get there, but I always wondered what the prices were for some of them. I took pictures of the things that I bought.
Not sure if the protein shots are the type of protein we need though. Hopefully someone will chime in and let me know. I didn't buy them, just priced them.
I always thought when people were talking about Special K water that it was actual liquid.. this is more like crystal lite. Is this the right stuff?
If any of these things are not what we are supposed to have, please let me know. I bought some of them, but some I was just pricing so I could ask if I should get them. I'm curious to see if they are much cheaper there than here as well.
Bought a bunch of stuff.. getting closer to being ready :)

Yeah.. I like that there are options. I think the wellesse liquid from walmart or costco here is probably the route I'll take, but good to know the alternatives.
Yes I enjoyed it too. Did you get my email? Anytime it's cool enough to walk we are usually out there! You must be getting pretty excited now.. getting close!!!

There was a great post from poetkelly on the main board recently about multi-vitamins and how the standard centrum is missing some essential minerals and elements like selenium, but that 50+ formulations usually have these, so I think she takes one regular and one 50+ chewable a day to make sure she gets everything and it sounds like a good idea to me.
As for the protein shot, it does have some whey isolate protein, but the first protein listed is hydrolyzed collagen, which has a PDCAAS score of 0 meaning your body doesn't absorb it at all, so taking it in this shot form is useless. If you can find a shot that is all whey isolate, that might be worth it, but this really isn't since you'll only absorb a fraction of the advertised amount of protein, a 100% whey isolate protein shake will give you more protein for about the same calories and cost - check out the Nature's Best ISOPure at GNC, the dutch chocolate is awesome, especially mixed with unsweetened almond milk (they advertise a serving as 2 scoops for 50g protein, but you can halve that). If you want a protein mix that is not milky, you could try the Weider's Peach Mango available at Shoppers, also whey isolate, 20g in a scoop, also a favourite. I'm also a pre-op person getting prepared but I've started drinking protein and working out to get prepped for surgery and like these so far.
Good luck!

thanks Pat,
I had heard the protein shots might not be the right ones, but was hoping! LOL
Thanks for the info about the protein - I have been drinking Premier Protein shakes for breakfast for the last while. What I'd really like to find is Unjury flavourless. I've heard of that from quite a few sources, but so far have now found it. I like the idea of a flavourless one to mix into foods after surgery.
Thanks for the advice and good luck to you too! :)
