Time to think about if you want any PS done if you do have a hernia.  Perfect time to get a hernia fixed during a TT or panni.  I had 2 fixed prior to my TT then ended up with a third one just before my TT so my PS had a general surgeon come in and he took out all the old mesh that had been used in the 2 previous repairs and he redid it all. Have had no other hernias since because he really made sure to reinforce that area.  They can fix them lap but I think when I had mine done wide open with the TT, it was a much better job.

If you get excrutiating pain get to the ER in case it's strangulated.  My first one they couldn't reduce it in the ER so they admitted me in case it was straight to the OR but it finally reduced 8 hours later so I was able to plan a surgery instead of having emergency surgery.  Don't mess around with pain in that area if you even think it could be a hernia.

It hadn't even occurred to me to think about PS.  Good point.

Don't worry, I don't F around with a lot of pain - if it starts hurting, off to the ER I shall go.  Funny thing, I sneezed this morning and it didn't hurt. lol

I know you won't mess around with pain.  Mine used to pop out now and then and then it would reduce itself and it may take another month before it came out again.  Worth mentioning at your next doc appointment so he/she can feel around.

It's funny - had I not had WLS and been on this forum for so long, I wouldn't really think anything of it! *paranoia sets in*

I too had my hernia repaired for the third time by a General Surgeon at the same time as my Tummy Tuck. Lately when I exercise I have noticed a small protrusion under where my belly button is now. I'm hoping it is not a hernia again but who knows. I had extensive muscle repair when my Tummy Tuck was done.

RNY on 09/16/08 with
I had the coolest hernia.. not sure how I managed to get it though.   Above my belly button.  We had just moved to the country and had oodles of fencing to do.  Every now and then I'd lay on the ground and push everything back in.. yep, I could feel stuff, not sure what the stuff was, but after pushing it in, sure felt better.  I also had gall bladder attacks.  They told me cause I was so big.. they'd have to open me up.. well, I suffered for 8 months.. then conceded that I had to do something as I was only eating white rice, boiled chicken.. tuna.. yep, great diet.   So the surgeon says he can fix my hernia too :), and it was all done lap, not open.  I was very happy.   Once I lost all the weight I thought I had another one, just off to one side, wondered if it was at one incicison holes from my rny.  When I had plastics he found no new hernias, but the mesh had weakened, so it almost felt like one.  He just took that mesh and sewed it all together.  Fixed right up.. so... what I'm saying, is we can likely fix it for ya, I have good goat drugs and I'm sure a few of us can feel around until we find something lol
