Food/menu plans?
Just curious - is there somewhere online, or does anyone have a pdf, of various centres' staged menu plans? Just my curiosity, would love to have a look at them.

karen, i went through windsor with my surgery in guelph.
because i love you so dearly, i will type out the information that was given to me.
PHASE 1: CLEAR FLUIDS (Day 2 - 14)
Your fluid goal for each day: 6 to 8 cups (1500 to 2000mL)
Aim for about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of clear fluid per meal. You should sip at least 2 tbsp of fluid every 15 minutes. Be prepared to spend 1 - 1 1/2 hours to have your meal. Stop eating if you feel pain or discomfort. Try again later.
Choose low-sugar, clear liquids:
Broths (beef, chicken, vegetable)
Coffee, decaffeinated
Flavoured waters, low-sugar, non-carbonated (crystal light, diet kool-aid)
Gelatin, sugar free (Jello Light)
Popsicles, sugar free
Tea, decaffeinated or herbal
Water
SAMPLE MENU:
Breakfast - 100mL watered down apple juice
100mL jello light
coffee/black tea
AM Snack - 100mL apple or cranberry juice
Lunch - 125mL broth
100mL jello
PM Snack - 100mL apple juice or jello
Dinner - 125mL broth
100mL jello
100mL clear juice
Evening Snack - 125mL apple or cranberry juice
*focus on water intake between eating times
PHASE 2: FULL FLUIDS (day 15 to 28)
Choose low-sugar, low fat full fluids:
Cottage cheese, mashed with a fork
Cream soup, made with skim or 1% milk, strained
Hot cereal, cooked with water, then thinned with added milk (eg: cream of wheat, corn meal, oat bran, oatmeal, red river)
Milk, skim or 1%
Pudding, sugar free
Soy beverage, fortified, unsweetened
Vegetable juice, low sugar (V8, Diet V8 Splash, 100% tomato juice)
Yogurt, low fat, no sugar, no fruit pieces
*add skim milk powder to full fluids for extra protein
SAMPLE MENU:

1/4 cup yogurt
Lunch - 1 oz lean chicken/turkey/fish OR 60mL tuna/salmon/cottage cheese OR 1 egg OR 1 oz low fat cheese

i just found the sheet i was missing yesterday.. the "approved" foods for the PHASE THREE: SOFT/REGULAR DIET.
MILK PRODUCTS:
1 oz. low fat cheese (20% M.F. or less)
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup, milk or skim
1/3 cup yogurt (low fat, low sugar)
MEAT AND ALTERNATIVES:
2 oz. canned fish (tuna, salmon)
1 oz. chicken, turkey
1 egg, boiled/poached/scrambled
1 oz. fish (cod, haddock, perch, salmon, sole)
1/4 cup legumes (chickpeas, kidney beans, lentils)
1 tbsp. peanut butter
1/4 cup soy/tofu
CARBOHYDRATE RICH FOODS (STARCH) - GRAIN PRODUCTS:
1 slice bread, whole grain
1/2 cup couscous, barley
4 pieces melba toast, whole wheat
3 soda crackers + 100mL soup
1/2 pasta
1/4 cup potato, mashed
1/2 cup rice
1/2 cup high fibre cereal (hot or cold)
1/2 6 inch tortilla or pita, whole grain
