7 1/2 months post-op Now Pregnant!
Traci, if you're happy then I'm happy for you.
5 kids is a handful but you're a strong woman, I have no doubt you can handle anything.
I want to wish you all the best with the pregnancy. My only advice is to be sure you let the bariatric team know so they can direct you to any dietary changes you may need to follow

This can be a good example and some serious advice to new preops. My dr. told me that woman post-WLS become VERY fertile due to hormones etc. Even people who had difficultly conceiving in the past.
SO - he said things like the pill (particularly with malabsorptive surgeries where you might not be getting all of the medication you are taking in) and condoms just don't cut it. That all post-op patients should consider a stronger and more reliable form (or two forms) of birth control. He recommended things like the depo shot, a mirena IUD, (along with condoms) or for people who no longer want kids - surgerical intervention.
So - if you're newly (or soon to be newly) post-op - time to talk to a dr. about birth control.
To Imaginethat - congrats on the baby. I hope, if you decide to go ahead with the pregnancy, that you ask to be sent to a high-risk gyno right away...it would be bad to lose a wanted baby, but even worse to have a baby with "issues" due to malnutrition during pregnancy. You'll want to be very closely monitored.

Wow, a lot of changes all at once.
I know of another lady that got pregnant at about the same stage you are at out of surgery. She had to go through McMaster Hospital for EXTREMELY high risk pregnancies. Please, please, please make sure you get the care that you and your baby will need to both come through this healthy and happy!

Congratualtions on all of these awesome accomplishments! I got pregnant 10 monts out and I just want you to know that there was no extra testing or anything out of the ordinar. Me and my son were perfectly healthy the whole time, so healthy, in fact, that he was 9lbs 14oz only 2ozs less than his big brother. Don't pay attention to these nasty comments about your baby or your choices. Just remember some people have no class.
Just because you had a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby doesn't mean there are not real and serious risks associated with a near post- op pregnancy. Encouraging a person who is subject to those risks to seek medical guidance is not nasty. Neither is stating a personal stance about what one might do with their own body in their own situation. OTOH, calling people disgusting *is* pretty nasty.
To the OP: I wish you all the best with all your life's changes! I hope everybody comes through safe, healthy and happy.
Best,
Mo
