So very sorry to hear about your son's hard time - and obviously your's too! Hope it's all over very soon, and so glad they sorted out what the problem is. As for the +++'s, sounds like things are definitely going your way now! Congrats.

I've never heard of serum sickness, but it sounds awful. So sorry the little fella has to go through this. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
Lucky you for the appointment move up! Unlucky you for your son's illness. My son had this too, at about nine months old. He was a month early and had (still has) a lot of bronchial infections. He had his MMR shot canceled a few times because of a nagging one, and after a treatment with amoxycillin, was able to get the shot. A week later, we went to Quebec, and while there, he developed the nastiest diaper rash, broke out in the head to foot rash, high fever etc. Everyone was convinced he had measles, but I insisted he was vaccinated. We returned home asap and I took him to the doctor who confirmed it was not measles, but a serum reaction to the amoxycillin. It was not fun, and I felt so bad seeing him so ill so young. My heart goes out to your family, and I hope your son recovers soon.

Wow, I'm glad he is on the mend! And that you found a doctor who knew what was wrong!
A couple of summers ago my best friend was up visiting and started to develop a rash. I took her to ER five times. First they said hives, then chicken pox, then eczema. Finally a doctor asked if she was on any new meds. She ended up being diagnosed with Stevens Johnson syndrome which is a rare reaction to a few medications that causes sores all over your body. It happens weeks after you start taking the medication, so we didn't even think of the medication. She was so ill by that time she spent days hooked up to an iv and months later was still losing "damaged" skin...peeling like a sunburn.
Very scary when something happens that is so rare, and very grateful when you hit on the right doctor to figure it out.
