OT - sad times for me

 Gaby, I am so very sorry to hear about your friend.  Cancer is cruel and merciless it seems. 
I love your plan to take her back to Europe and recreate a trip you took together before, that sounds like the most amazing time.... and when "time" is suddenly being unwillingly shortened, it is a major blessing to be able to fill that time with a best-friend-filled trip abroad.  

I will keep your friend in my prayers. I truly believe the best of the best are always the ones taken far too soon. I have lost a close loved one to this horrible disease, so I can relate. We (her family) spent her last 8 months together, practically every weekend, trying to fulfill some dream or desire of hers. It was some of the best times we ever had as a family, and some of our best memories with the one we lost.
