Day 10.....
VSG on 01/25/12
Today (Friday) is going to be Day 10 for me on Optifast. It was a really horrible start for me with the Vanilla Optifast causing me horrible allergic reactions and thanks to the help of some friends I was able to make some adjustments (an interim diet plan) and eventually figured out that it is mostly the Vanilla Optifast that I am allergic too, although the chocolate is still causing me some problems I am able to tolerate it. The kicker is that because of all the early problems I have such a horrible aversion to the Optifast that I can hardly stand the thought of getting it in. Something very psychological happened in my head and for about 5 days I was only getting in maybe 1.5-2 shakes a day at most, plus 1 cup of sugar free jello, and 2-3 cups of chicken broth for a total of under 500 calories today. Thankfully, everyone is back at TWH and I am at last communicating with Katie and hopefully getting this all figured out.
My body hates me. Totally hates me which is so hard for me giving I generaly felt totally healthy before this Optifast crazy quest started for me. I feel deflated, tired, and foggy, and my muscles are sore....but I'm hoping this is about to turn itself around now that I am working with Katie to overcome these struggles.

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I was allergic to Optifast and my doctor put me on a high protein and no carb diet for 2 weeks. I did it for longer as my original surgery date got cancelled at the last minute. My doctor was very supportive of using Premier Protein ready to drink from Costco as I am diabetic and the diabetic choices of protein drinks like Boost and Carnation were either intolerable or had aspertame.
If you have tried a high protein drink you can tolerate bring it to the dietician or your doctor. I found my doctor very accommodating as to what worked for me. Hopefully your center will be too.

You are doing amazing! Your body may hate you now but your so close. The Optifast is really hard but it will be so worth it. You've had such challenges with the clinic, and overcome them all. So glad Katie is helping she's wonderful. GREAT BIG HUGS ((( )))) you're so close. Diane
