Before my surgery!!  Woot!  Woot!

Had my PATTS at TWH today.....was there for 3 long hours but had the company of a good friend and we held our patience pretty well!

For anyone curious the appointment entailed...... blood work, ECG, meeting with a nurse including weight and height, and seeing the anesthesist.

Such a full day of bouncing from person to person but they were efficient and it was hardly painless!  However.....can't say i've ever had my butt crack swabed before!  Darn MRSA testing!

Why a butt swab can I ask? I should be scheduled for PATTS sometime this week or next. Have I been in the backwoods all my life that I've never heard of a BS? Oh lord so looking forward to that!

I have to ask the same question, what is with the Butt crack being swabbed. I already had surgery and I never had that. What is wrong with my butt? I am feeling really lucky yet ripped off at the same time.

It is the simplest way to test for MRSA, a hospital acquired bacterium that can lead to extemely hard to treat infections. You are required to disclose whether you have ever tested positive for MRSA when being admitted to a hospital, so you are usually tested before being discharged, even you were negative before you entered the hospital, so that you know for next time.

I had one at PATTS, one after surgery and one before I left. When she approached me to do the one before I left I looked at her and was like " um no my ass is fine!" LOL
