Hey toni - sorry to hear the night shifters are evil - i was pretty lucky i guess .... here's a little tip - when you get discharged you will get visited by a representinve nurse telling you if you have/had issues when you get home etc to call her . Rip her and her staff right then and there - and then in the survery that that send you in the mail right now . Also you will be probably visited by someone from the bariatric team - Sandra /Lorraine etc - Rip them too - i went as far as on my walks on day three going to the cliinic and telling them directly at the desk . I know it wont the night shifts any better but the hospital needs to know what is going on for sure . Keep smiling - welcome to the bench - it gets waay better trust me
I totally agree with making a formal complaint! The nurses are supposed to tell you their name. I would certainly be asking to talk to someone of higher seniority, even tho you dont know her name, they will find out and give her crap.
I used gas-x while I was in the hospital BUT I walked my butt off, actually got into trouble for walking soo much, even after being told to "walk, walk, walk". LOL My nurse told me to go back to bed and not to get out of it for a while. LOL!

Toni...as others have said you should definitely make a formal complaint. If the chief of staff doesn't know it is broken, he will not be able to fix it.
I don't see why you can't start using the gas x right away. For myself, they did not really bring a lot of relief, but thanks to the wonderful advice I received on here about drinking fluids as warm as Effy (this is what I decided to call my pouch) could stand it, and putting warm blankets or something else warm on the tummy, I was finally able to get relief.
Perhaps you could ask for warm water instead of cold and try to see if that helps.
Good luck

Hi and welcome to the bench. I am so sorry you are having such problems with TWH. My experience there was so different and have nothing but good things to say. I would make sure you put in a complaint when you leave and like Derek C mentioned above, make sure you voice your concerns in the follow up survey.
Hi Toni,
I too did not have a good experience with TWH. I was much on my own without any family or friends until the 2nd day. By the time my sister came on Tuesday (all the way from Nova Scotia) I was so thankful! She has just retired from 40 years of nursing and she was appalled on the way i was treated. No-one assisted me or told me how to get out of bed, i did everything on my own...I didn't get a pillow until the end of the first day. They came in one time at night and tried to give me medication that was for another patient. Luckily, i had just said that my vitals were just checked an hour ago, why are you doing it again? Never changed the bed linens. And to make things worse for me, they were crushing my pills when they didn't have to. (I had the VSG).
My sister heard them outside talking about me as there was one afternoon that i was having a nap, and i guess my bed was too low and then said i should be out walking. Well, i was out walking prior to that, but i was tired. The head nurse came and basically scolded me for not walking, and i replied right back to her i was walking earlier on.
I know it is tough for nurses as they are so short-staffed, but i was sooooo glad my sister was there and sooooo glad to get out of there.
Other than that, i am happy with the team on the 4th floor, even though sometimes a little disorganized or having to wait, they are really a great team.
I hope you do okay and stay focused on when you get home, you will be very happy!
