Dumping Syndrome

I've seen several posts lately with people either saying they had a dumping episode or asking what dumping feels/looks like. Many people think they are dumping when they get food caught due to eating too quickly, not chewing well enough or get the "foamies". This is not dumping, folks. Have a read for a very good explanation from the Mayo Clinic. Knowledge is power.

Great post, yep I see that all the time that people think they are dumping and they aren't
It happened to me ONCE and believe me when it happens you know it LOL

Exactly - once for me as well, and DAMN, you'll know it if it happens. LOL

I just think that people should be knowledgeable about the possible side-effects of their own surgery. We should all know these things.

One real one for me. Thought I was going to die!! LOL.

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

I have REALLY dumped three times.
The other (many) times were all the Foamies, which are not pleasant, but not earth-shattering.

Dumping is Gawdawful, and once you've done it for real, you know.

The first time, I was so glad I had been warned because I was **this close** to calling an ambulance. Writhing on the bathroom floor moaning, while stuff was coming out of both ends of me, and that for four hours. Yuck.

Absolutely shattered for hours afterward.
