Dumping Syndrome

Thanks very much Karen...I had what I thought MIGHT have been a mini dump the other night but the only symptoms I had were severe pain, nausea for sure and vomiting. Lasted for about 2 hrs altogether, however, the vomiting did not last all that long.  Reading the link you sent I am thinking now it may have just been something stuck in the pouch.

I used to get things stuck all the time and I would have terrible pain in my chest, almost unbrearable, until whatever was stuck managed to come back up. I rarely had nausea with it though - once the offending food was out, I was usually ok.

I have a feeling I am just not chewing my chicken that I cook at home enough, or it may be too dry. I can eat chicken out i.e. Swiss Chalet, Subway chicken etc and that goes down fine...but so far the times I have made it at home, it seems to hurt.

I get something that includes some of those symptoms, but not all.  If I have something that contains sugar I get jittery, nauseated, heart palpitations, sweaty, feel like hell and very weak and tired during and after that, occasionally diarrhea with it, but only a couple of times has that happened.  So far that's as far as it goes.  (so far.. knocking on wood!)  Now I usually get this feeling after only a couple of bites or sips, so don't really get much sugar in, so I wonder if this is a dumping warning or something?

Happened today when I had a couple of sips of a skinny light frappecino that I was assured was low sugar, but apparently wasn't.

Any thoughts?

What you have described sounds exactly like dumping to me!

Mayo clinic is a great source of info.  They even explain the difference between fast & slow dumping.  Slow dumping is the worst.

This is a great link with reliable info. Some people think you can only dump on fat and sugar but that's not always true. Dumping happens when undigested food hits the intestines and they 'panic' producing too much insuline. It makes sense that some people will dump easily on liquids as they spend no time in the pouch, also be careful because low fat doesn't mean low carb and carbs change into sugar in the body...
