Protein supplements
Sometimes I think people should bring in samples of their favourite proteins to groups so that people can try them. Sometimes I suffer through something I don't like just because I've put the money down and cannot afford to throw things away.
We can use sugar free syrups and the like to help change some tastes and that is okay too. I guess some places have money back guarantees if you don't like the product too, but I live in a small town and when I go to the city to buy something it is likely I am not there again for a while.
You will also need to buy a Multivitamin... I bought @ Shoppers Drug Mart the Centrum Select 50+ chewable (because I am over 50 yrs old) and the dietitian told me to take 2 of the multivitamins a day. Make sure you take them with you to hospital as I forgot mine at home and hubby had to bring them in they wanted me to start while in hospital.
I am 4.5 weeks post surgery and I must say I am having trouble getting in all 5 a day they are so big and must be taken with food. The dietitian said to suck them like lozenges especially the Bariatric Advantage as they taste awful even cinnamon ones I bought very chalky if chewed.
Choice is yours to buy... most are listed in the "Nutrition Guidelines after Surgery: RNY Gastric Bypass" booklet.
Hope this helps, if in doubt just call the clinic they are very good at responding to questions.
Enjoy your day, Donna

I am sure once I get my blood work done next week at my first follow-up from surgery they will tell me if I need to "quadruple" up on the Multivitamins as you indicated... I take two Centrum per day based on the recommendation of the dietitian who spent over an hour with me the day before I was discharged from the hospital. Thanks for your feedback and the heads up that I might need more.
