Surgeries Cancelled?

At the hospital where I work we have already run intro a shortage of injectable gravol. We used to use single dose ampules with a lower concentration. Now all we have is multi use vials in higher doses which we are not equiped to use. (we do not have a system to store or return to general use a vial intended for multiple patients) The pharmacy in hospital is fixing this by creating diluted syringes with 5mg concentrations. This way, we can still give gravol oral (this wsa never effected by the shutdown) and we can still give IV. All orders that were for Intramuscular have to be changed to oral or iv.

Just heard from a friend that works at our local hospital that they too are dealing with a shortage of meds.. I guess there was even a write up in the paper about it too.
I know that the oxy based pills are being taken off the market throughout Ontario as they have come up with some new type that can't be crushed and 'abused' as easily I guess. Not sure if that would play any part in this or not though.
