Milk of Magnesia seems to work for me.  I take it at night so by morning I'm relieved but you can take it anytime of day.  The time it takes to relieve you depends.  It could be from 1/2 hour to 3 hours depending how much you take.  Good luck!

Good old fashioned milk of magnesia works well.  Take the full 60ml dose, and then drink warm drinks.  That should get things going.  Then you should take a stool softener such as Colace (or the generic equivalent) to keep things soft.  Drink your 8 cups of water a day to help things move. Walk.  If you need more help than that, you may need a fleet enema, but call your bariatric centre for advice before you resort to that.

Thanks!!
Off to Shoppers I go!!  :o /
I am on Colace twice a day, 'trying' to drink as much as I can, but I know I lack fluids.
Working on it though.
Thanks again!!

I was told by the nurse to just take Benifiber....so what I have done is bought the benifiber that you can add to a bottle of water... That way I get my fiber and water at once... So far so good. :)

Benefibre is my friend.

I think the feramax i take for my iron helps keep things moving too...
Sometimes the best support  you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.

The nurse at St Joe's recommended Benefibre to me as well.  I wasn't having any issues at the time, so I held off taking it until I noticed it was becoming a little more difficult to go. I add two teaspoons to water before bed and then have no issues the next day.  I don't think benefibre is a good choice if you are in a bind - more of a preventative measure.

Watch benefiber unless you are able to drink lots. If you don't drink enough it can constipate you worse. Lax A Day is a good choice too. Tasteless and dissolves in water. For me I use lactulose if really having trouble. At times a glycerine suppository works to get things moving

At health food stores, Natural Calm. It works like a miracle. On my trip here in Nicaragua I am taking it every other day to keep things moving. The food is so different here I need the help and it is okay to use daily.
