HOME AND SLEEVED!!!!!
Its official im sleeved! Wow what an emotional rollercoaster. Im so happy i went through with it and stuck to it this time. Im feeling pretty good but very weak. I cant wait for the 28th day so I can introduce chicken breast again. Only problem im having is getting all tha****er in. It takes me about an hour to drink 125ml of broth and 100ml of sf jello and i dont feel full at all. I know its just because its liquids so im really hoping when I start on more solid food I will feel that full feeling again. Im down 30lbs since March 7 (start of opti). Went on the treadmill at 1.5 today for 10 min just to get some walking in and I felt great! Any advice from this point on for anything would be sooooo greatly appreciated. As usual thanks for all your support in advance

Hi Mon - just curious about what you said about not feeling "full" even after we start eating food again. I guess I just assumed that, because our pouch is so small, it would get filled up pretty quickly and we would have that feeling of fullness in it. Will we not feel that way now? This is probably going to sound dumb, but how will we know when to stop eating, if we don't get the signal from our pouch?
Thanks, Deb

Yeah, that's the thing. During surgery (i'm only speaking about RNY, i really should say i'm not that familiar with the sleeve surgery) the nerves that give us that full, or hungry sensation are cut, just as part of the surgery, because of where the cuts are made to section off the stomach and reroute the intestines.
Therefore, in the beginning, we don't have that "full" feeling. That's why its so incredibly important to measure, in the beginning, and only eat the proscribed amounts. To stop eating at a half cup (or whatever you've been told by your WLS centre).
Hope that helps.
My feelings came back about 2 months out. Some people say theirs never came back, others sooner. Nerves are funny things.

Hi Lisa: Congratulations on being sleeved. I also was sleeved by Dr. P-H. Was a bit of a surprise because I went in expecting RNY, but so far the sleeve has worked great. Had my surgery on Dec 1, 2011 and I'm down 57 lbs as of this morning. No complications from the surgery at all. It took about 5 weeks for me to finally get my energy back and I did get a bit dehydrated at first so please ensure you get you water in. I know it's difficult, but keep sipping away. Good luck as you continue through your journey.

Congrats on being sleeved. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
I had huge issues with getting my liquids in at the beginning, as well. It does get better though. I had to basically sleep with a cup of water in my hand. I remember drinking while half asleep in the beginning. If I didn't I would never get my liquids in. Which took a couple of months before I could get my 8 cups in.
I found the hunger never went away, with me. Also with liquids it passes right through the sleeve. Whereas with food, it sits in the sleeve for awhile.
Good luck!

Congrats! Were you prescribed a PPI for post-op? I was having a bit of acid reflux at night with my DS, but it cleared up in a few days thanks to the PPI. Have you had any nausea? I found the best thing for it was to force down some fluids/food even though I didn't much feel like it and it improved the situation. Good luck!
