I think there are valid points either way. It's definitely a good idea to do a quick scan of the last few pages to see if someone answered already. What I worry about is that a newbie, seeing this post, might feel intimidated about asking their question - they may be afraid that they will be "called out" or censured for asking and then they'll not post again & just end up being a lurker.  This should be a place where people feel comfortable, even though I realize that it can be frustrating to see the same question asked again and again and again......Besides, a newcomer may not be able to tell if someone's just having a cranky moment - lol!

I wouldn't "call out" a newbie Deb.  You know me.  But when there's a post 2 below yours asking the same thing, an entire site to search, a search function, and GOOGLE .... come on. lol
People SHOULD ask questions! But I think it's responsible to do a little looking on your own, read the forum postings, and then ask.  That's all.

Good thing I clarifed that I was cranky at the moment. LOL

Nah, Karen, I wasn't saying that you specifically would "call out" a newbie - I was only thinking of how a newbie might feel & I would hate to see someone leery about asking a question, that's all.   I definitely agree with you that people should be checking the last few pages and/or using the "Search" function - it's just common sense to expect people to do that first before asking their question.

That's okay, I'm pretty cranky myself right now. I want food, not Optifast & Jello - LOL! Ah hell, it's only another 3 weeks.....

I use the search feature before posting so I usually find an answer or two :)

I use the search regularly. and often find the answer I am looking for.

I find If I don't interact by asking .......it tends to make me a lurker... where as if I post my question I tend to feel I am part of this forum rather than just an on looker.

Agree with the OP. Perhaps a pet peeve of mine too. It is common "forum" netiquette to use the search button to avoid duplication, ie. the 5,000 Optifast threads, LOL. Not the end of the the world, but it was still a fair and valid point. The forum would be served well if there was "sticky" posts for popular questions/topics.
