Best of luck, hope somthing works. I have to second the Windex though, it works like a charm. I had a ring stuck so I ran my hand under cold water for a few minutes, sprayed with Windex and it slid right off.

Thanks again for all the good wishes everyone. Unfortunately, I tried everything & that darn ring just won't come off! I guess they'll have to cut it off at the hospital. Oh well, now I know what to ask for at Christmas! LOL....

Awww... that's too bad, Deb! I find that when I have to *try* to get a ring off, it won't! LOL I think I psych myself out or something.

P.S. Very best wishes! We'll all be thinking of you!!

Sorry to jump in but I saw someone mentioning toe and nail polish.

Can anyone confirm that in Ottawa you can't have polish on your nails?  I was going for a pedicure on Tuesday before my surgery.  Ekk

Confirmed -- I've had other surgery at the Civic;  no polish.

Have your pedicure, but just no polish.   Save that for after, as a treat in those first few weeks post surgery.

Thank you for the info. I'm assuming it's so they can see the colour of my nail bed for circulation and 02 levels right? So a french pedicure would still work.

You're assuming correctly.

As an aside (and it was my fingers, not toes), during my sleep study this past July, the technician had to wake me during the night to remove nail polish from my finger because the oximeter kept giving her false readings.  Brand new manicure, too.

I doubt they'll have an oximeter on your toe(s).

I love the look of a French pedicure.

Just add it to your list of questions for your pre-surgical meeting with the doc, to be on the safe side.

Already went on Tuesday and knew not to have anything on my finger nails but didn't think of my toes.
