I just had a question about the process at St. Joe's in Hamilton.
I have my surgeon's appointment on Tuesday. What happens then and after that appointment?

Thanks.
J

The surgeon will just go over everything with  you and make sure you know what your getting yourself into. After that apt they will book you for the surgical class. Then you wait....and wait...and wait for the lovely call to tell you when your surgery date is. :)  Good luck J

So will this be the appointment when I'll find out how long I'll have to do Opti and get a prescription and stuff? I'll be able to discuss with him what surgery I prefer? I'm nervously excited!!

Yes...This is the apt you need to state your preferred surgery. Most of the time they just assume RNY. If you want one of the other ones you need to make sure you have the FACTS lined up and  take in any supporting info. Basically you need to "state your case"    He will then tell you how many weeks of Opti and give you the script for it.  Should be doing at least 2 weeks but could go as high as 4 to 6. Depending on how  fatty your liver is.

Just relax :)  none of them bite
