Probably a repetitive question...

When I was at the clinic for my last set of appointments the nurse was telling me that they have changed the process a lot since I went through.. When I was going through my appointments we did a lot one-on-one... Now to speed things up and make Guelph at par with the rest of the clinics they have moved a lot of the education stuff to group sessions.. In my pre op nutritionist appointments they were all one on one (I had 2 appointments with her) now apparently they are moving to make at least the first meeting with the nutritionist a group session .. They were working on something else too and I can't remember .. But from the sounds of things the info some of us post op folks may be dated, well with regard to the order of appointments and speed in which you are seen..
But the other info should be the same
If it were not for the vets sticking around on this forum I don't think I would have been as prepared as I was meaning that I would not be doing as well as I am too... I hope I can pay it forward ;-)

I am going through Guelph too. I meet the surgeon on Monday! You can start with the tests anytime, but they certainly don't need to be before the orientation. I had most of my tests booked by my family doctor. I would do your sleep study soon, as it may take a while for the results. I'd also do the H pylori soon, as you have to be treated for it if you test positive.
Hi there, I also went through Guelph and I agree, see you family doctor and have him book your appointmens and send you for the blood tests. you are ahead of the game if these are done before you see the RN in Guelph. He will also send the referral to the sleep clinic and they will call you with a sleep overnight date. You can call now though to get your three appointments booked. :) Good luck
I had my orientation Sept 6/12 it was a long wait a year. They have you call after the orientation to book the appointmenrs (I called the first thing the next morning). I had the sleep test before but they don't even ask anything about the blood tests or the sleep study or anything like that they said it isn't for the orientation that wasn't what the orientation is for (that is what they said). I was the same as you that I would rather have them book everything before but they say no book after (they try to scare you about everything but it is major surgery so they have to be concerned that you are ready but I was like just sign me up I am ready. I see you were referred in Jan/12 so you are getting in quick, as I said I have been a year and am hoping that it isn't another year but am not holding my breath that is won't be (everyone says it is a year after the orientation). I just don't want to be disappointed to think that it will be quicker but will welcome it if it is. I asked about getting transferred before and they said they don't do that, but I met someone at the orientation and she said that they called her in July asking if she wanted to go to Toronto, she said no that she wasn't sure I was like heck I would have jumped on that. So I am sure that they just moved on to someone else on the list so that is good for them.
I hope all goes well with you.
Cindy
