What are you eating/doing today? (Tuesday)

Morning all :)

I actually slept in until 9:45!  Unheard of! My whole body is sooooo tired and sore.  Waaa waaa, poor me. lol  I'm off to do low fibre grocery shopping today - looked up low fibre diets and got some great advice and ideas. My mom and dad are taking me, not to worry.  I won't be unleashed alone on the general public yet.

B - so far just coffee with milk, trying to "wake up" enough to head to the shower and get dressed, in that order, not at the same time
S - plain oatmeal with a drizzle of agave to make it sweet
L - leftover very milky KD (a couple of spoonfuls) - it sat heavy for a loooong time last night. I may skip this and go for soup.  Or perhaps, even better idea, I'll make some sort of creamy soup outta the KD!
S - no clue
D - uh.... we'll see what I bring home.  I'm thinking the KD soup may have something good going on though.

Have a wonderful day!

I wondered that too when I read it so I googled... (google junkie here)

http://www.cuh.org.uk/resources/pdf/patient_information_leaf lets/PIN1051_low_fibre_diet.pdf - (Karen maybe this might be good for you?? I don't know if they gave you info this comprehensive... Was going to PM but this could be a handy link.)

"Sometimes when your bowel is obstructed or if you are at risk of bowel obstruction
you may be advised to follow a diet low in fibre.
This may decrease the amount of gas produced and thereby help to alleviate
symptoms such as bloating and stomach discomfort. It may also help to prevent your
bowels becoming blocked.
Fibre is the structural part of plants as bones are the structural part of humans. It is
not digested or broken down but passes through the gut adding bulk to our diets.
This low fibre diet will still contain small amounts of fibre, but will avoid foods high in
fibre such as: certain fruit, vegetables and wholemeal cereals.
This diet may be a temporary measure, check with you doctor regularly to see if you
should keep following it. Contact your dietitian if you need further advice or if you feel
it is not benefiting you."

This looks like sound advice, especially given that according to this wise woman I know, we are more prone to bowel obstructions.

thanks for the link

It is one of the risks of RNY and DS... Though certainly not a requirement as it can happen to anyone.

It's a risk for anyone, actually.  Even moreso if you have had abdominal surgeries of ANY KIND, NOT JUST RNY OR DS.

Many people, especially cancer and IBS patients, use a low fibre diet. I am following it to a "T".
