 Hey there!

Had a follow up appt yesterday at the Hamilton Clinic and I mentioned having trouble with heartburn since the Prevacid had run out.  I am using Zantac 150 mg 2x day and it is still an issue.  Wakes me up at night. I have an appt to see the surgeon next week.

Never had issues before surgery.....

Any thoughts on what could be happening?

Many with VSG need to be on Prevacid a lot longer than 3 months.  Some have GERD for life with it.  I'd get back on what has worked for you in the past.

Yes, look up GERD, it's stomach acid in the esophagus.

You can also buy RANITIDINE over the counter which is good as an antacid.

I went through Hamilton and had VSG and am still on Prevacid.  Always will be.  I may be able to go 1 day without but definately need it the second day.  I take it every day.

Thanks everyone!  I am taking OTC Zantac 150 mg 2x a day, I wouldn't say it isn't helping...but it is still an issue.

Wait to see what the surgeon has to say.  Nice to hear that others have experienced this and it seems like nothing major to worry about.  Thank you for that!

Ann, I'm still on Nexium 3 years out.  GERD is definitely a side effect of a VSG.  I had it before, its worse now, but under control with the Nexium.
