I met with Dr. Yelle today! He was quick and efficient lol.

I like him! Fingers crossed he is my actual surgeon. He assured that due to my age and current health, risk are low.. however anything is possible.

I signed my old life away and started my new one today :).

I got my HUGE box full of chocolate optifast... lol.. it felt like the walk of shame to my car with this huge thing... and of course the lot was full so I had parked further away.. figures lol.

I do however have to say... there were a few patients in the waiting room... one woman i am assuming was here to meet with Dr. Yelle like myself.. the other two had just had surgery a week prior.. well lucky for me these women shared their experienced and made sure to let us know how painful it was, and one has already been in the ER ..... great... it felt like " let's scare the newbies" day..... I am trying to not focus on all that was said.. but man... I have anxiety already.. and have to say I am handling it amazingly ( therapist words) but I definitely had to work on keeping myself from full blown freak out while listening to these two yaking yettas!

Ok. feel much better now. Here is to the next step!!... OPTIFAST/SURGERY!

Congrats on a successful meeting!

Sorry that the ladies in the waiting room felt it was necessary to scare you.  For every horror story, there are even more success stories!  I am 34 years old and had my surgery 4 weeks ago today.  Yes there was discomfort, but it was totally manageable with pain medications.  I was up walking pretty much right away, was off all narcotics by the time I left the hospital, and off Tylenol a couple of days after that.  I didn't have any troubles sleeping, eating as per my centre's plan, and was able to get out and walk every day from the day I got home.

I hope this helps ease your anxiety a bit!

I'm glad you had a great meeting with Dr. Yelle~ too bad about the negative comments that worry you. But, there will be some pain...It is surgery after all. BUT, you are different from them and may handle it well!!!

Did you get all Chocolate? I should have done  that.... Honestly, they should let us sample it to know.....

My fingers are crossed that Lana will call tomorrow with your date!!!

Missed you last night.... the meeting went longer than usual!!

Don't worry about what those two said.  I know it's easier said than done.  Each person experiences something different.  I don't remember much pain after surgery, but I'm so happy with the results, probably wouldn't remember any ways.  The only pain I do remember is from my first bowel movement.  I hadn't gone in a week.  It was not fun to day the least.   But man, did I feel better after I had it.

By the way, you didn't do the "walk of shame".  You did the "I'm getting my life back" walk.  Be proud that you are doing something that you can have a new life.  Not everyone gets that chance.

Now, focus on the Opti, and what you'll do in your new life.

Glad you saw Dr Yelle, he's great isn't he? He was my surgeon a year ago this month. You will meet a lot

of people on this journey you are about to take and the majority of people will tell you that they had a wonderful

experience, yes the first couple of days you will be uncomfortable ( they will give you something for this) and you will be until the gas leaves your body and

you get used to eating again and then you will wonder what all the fuss was.  I compare it to going to the dentist

some people have a hard time others do not. You will be fine trust me.

chanelle  - everybody can tell scare stories - Most people do not talk about the great stories because they tend not to be that interesting. LOL

I never had any type of pain killers beside children liquid Tylenol ( nor did I need more) I had no pain whatsoever.  I took the children Tylenol for 3 days.

Some people get sore - some not. Everybody is different. :) Don't let them scare you away

take care

THANK YOU!!!!

It's always nice to be brought down to reality when you start to become irrational!

Honestly, don't know what I wouldn't do without yas! I sat in the education class two weeks ago listening to people ask a million questions, and was surprised that I knew the answer to most just because of the things I've learn on here!

I have no date yet... Dr. Yelle said for sure in the next two mths.. lord i hope so!! Fingers crossed!
