4 weeks post op and not doing good:(
Where did you get your surgery done and who was you doctor?
The reasons are obvious, you're not following the program. You need to work with your new stomach to achieve some weight loss goals, not against it. You should have been given all kinds of literature on diet from your nutritionist and dietician before you had your surgery. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/nutrition/Nutritional-Guid elines-Following-Weight-Loss-Surgery.html This will give you an idea of where you're at and what you should be eating. In big bold letters you should be seeing "guideline".
Stop blaming the thing up. Fault schmalt! It's what you choose to do today that is going to make a difference tomorrow. Get moving, start eating the right foods for your body and quit all the damn snacking. You need to follow a diet religiously at this point to get your self mentally attuned to becoming healthy and fit.
Chew more, eat slowly and drink all your water. Take your vitamins and supplements.
This might help you to get back on track too.
You have to take control of your diet and exercise because no one else can. This is your one big chance so get it right.
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

Such wise advice! You're a lucky person! Now haul out all the resources your clinic gave you and read them over and over! Where were operated upon? When did you go through the system? Which weight loss surgery did you have? Your profile answers none of these questions.
Thank you so much to everyone's advice and encouragement! Everyone of you has been a help and has made my eyes open to how much I need to "get with the program"! Tonight I bought a scale so I'm going to start measuring everything and follow the guidelines.I have an appt. with my dietician on Jan.2nd and I'm goin to look into seeing my counsellor again. To answer some of your questions: I had my gastric bypass surgery Nov.26th by Dr.Starr at Humber River Hospital in Toronto
At 4 weeks you should be concentrating on getting in your recommended protein amounts and your fluids.
I would not eat or drink anything without recording it. Then you will know exactly how much protein you are consuming.
Don't snack when you are preparing things. This is the habit we need to get out of the most. We can't eat as much as we used to after surgery but we can snack all day long and take in a lot of food and calories.

This surgery is a tool to help you lose weight. It's not going to work if you don't help yourself and follow the rules and put some work into it.
Hey there,
Just reading this today and hope that you are doing better. I had a stall 4 weeks after my surgery and quite honestly had no idea what to do. I e-mailed my NUT and asked her what was expected of me because I had no idea either. I had my surgery on August 1st and my routine check ups were scheduled 3 months after and my 3 month check-up is scheduled in March! Rediculous! Anyways she got back to me quite quickly and briefed me on what I should be doing. In my case it was eating 68 grams of protein per day, drinking 8-10 glasses of water, not more than a cup of food per serving and taking my vitamins and of course physical activity. I have lost 65 lbs and feeling great. Head hunger is freaky and you need to be in control of that...Keep your eye on the prize!
Take care
I would say serve your kids, put the rest immediately into containers, and what they don't finish throw away.
Yes, I said it, THROW IT AWAY !
Garbage in the garbage is better than garbage on the hips.
Second, get some cucumber or something, and when you feel the urge to much reach for that.
If you've identified this as a BAD HABIT then that is good because you can target it for change.
I think you are right that being able to tolerate everything is dangerous. Now you need to watch your volume of food.
Don't forget your physical activity.
Good luck!

There is great advice already in this thread, I only wanted to add consider checking out the book "The Complete WLS Guide & Diet Program" (by Sue Ekserci) if you are in any way confused about what you need to be doing. The advise in this book is excellent and is Canadian. At 4 weeks out, I was still checking it several times a day. There is excellent diet information in this book and even recipes.
