I want to jog...but I shouldn't right?

Hi Sandy.
I have acute osteoarthritis in my right knee - bad enough to need a wheelchair at one point pre-surgery. Weight loss made me pain free - so I walked, and walked, and walked, and thought .... WOW, I can do anything !
Then last week I had to walk down 24 flights of stairs (fire drill), and also walked 11 kms in one go for exercise. Too much! The knee is not happy, although it is "healing" more quickly than it did in the past, probably because I weigh less. My trainer said that with pre-existing conditions pacing yourself is REALLY important and chosing what you do is equally crucial (too much flexing for me with all those stairs).
So, in my unqualified opinion, if you decide to try something that's higher impact - go slow, and STOP when you get the slightest twinge. And think about whether it's really worth the risk. Maybe try to talk to a physio or sports medicine specialist first if you can. As someone who is disappointed to feel limited again, be careful.
