lost an AH today, thought we were friends...
Nata... I just choked on my drink.
I don't get why fat on someone else's bum would bother a person either but it seems to. I think it is because people think it is socially acceptable to be mean, rude, or judgmental about obese people. It truly is the only prejudice which seems to be embraced as semi-acceptable still.
Completely agree with you, Nata. It's nobody's business what's in other people's shopping carts - we, if anyone, should understand the struggles that obese people have with feeding themselves (and their families - let's not forget, many of us got these eating habits in childhood from our parents, and many of us pass our poor eating habits on to our children).
(Edited to add: I just realized that the above comment may sound critical of some of the posts in this thread - I didn't mean it that way, I'm talking about people who say rude things to or about fat people who eat in public or buy junk food in grocery stores. I think that everyone here understands the poor eating cycle passed down to the next generation, and I understand and share the concerns expressed here about that.)
It's so great to see someone who has arrived at her ideal weight not forgetting where she came from. It's one thing for fat people to speak up against nasty, fatphobic comments, but it's so good when thin people do it too.

As for your AH ex-friend.... Good for you for standing up to him and saying something... Maybe he went to bed that night and really think about why he feels it necessary to put people down. Obviously he has his own self esteem problems and putting others down makes him somehow feel better about himself or his family...
Yay for finding and using your voice! For me that is a HUGE NSV!
