What Are You Eating Today? (Saturday May 18th, 2013)

Hi Michelle

I am the "are gallery" type of hanger upper also...lol.....I love the look.....I had to figure out the cut and paste too....but voila!....I learned something new on OH....( its a different process then on other sites I think?)

Re hunger etc.....you are now 6 months out....and things change slightly....but you still have a good year or so of losing ahead....it just might not come off as fast....

You are usually good with your carbs....for me, carbs increase my hunger......so I ate very little my first 12-18 months....but for some people they are OK with them......if you are hungry at night....maybe switch your skim milk for something dense......also salt can be a bugger.....maybe the chick peas?....BUT....you also have to enjoy what you are eating.....I always think your menu's look great......and maybe your body is just taking a little break....

Enjoy your gardening....I am so glad when mine is done....I used to love it but now it just seems like another job on my list to accomplish.....

Thanks Barb - those are good pointers.  On days when I get in my walk, I still lose.  But unfortunately, that's not every day that I get in my walk. :(  As for the hunger, actually, I don't really get hungry at night.  I get hungry during the day - but after supper, I'm usually pretty good, and that glass of milk completely fills me up and because it's a "comfort food" for me, I like it better than nibblies.  It's strange, because you wouldn't think that milk would be that satisfying since it would go right through you.  It's during the day that I get really hungry, even though I still have morning and afternoon snacks.

I think you're right about the chick peas.  I like them, but they ARE salty.  And they just wouldn't be satisfying if I got the ones without salt - that's what makes them feel snacky! :)  Maybe I should just have those once in a while.  I've been depending on them as an easy-toting snack.  I find the protein bars make me feel slightly dump-ish, which is why I don't use those as snacky stuff.

You are losing so well...and you like the chick peas....I mean really....I would keep them on my menu if I enjoyed them....I keep low sodium triscuits on my menu and habanero cheese....I love them and look forward to them at night.....would I be better without...sure.....but I have weighed my enjoyment of them with my total caloric amounts and figure OK....as long as I keep losing....if not ....they will be gone again for awhile

That's true.  I think I just have to get used to the fact that I'm not going to lose as quickly as I did at first, and not constantly second-guess myself when I go for a few days without losing if I'm being careful of my food otherwise (and usually I am careful). I think it's the exercise that is the problem.  Just not making it a priority, and I should.

Thanks again for the encouragement - you're always so helpful!

I feel the same way, Michelle!  I'm definitely more hungry lately than I have been - guess the honeymoon is coming to a close!  My calories now are closer to 1,100-1,200 per day, and carbs are higher than I'd like as well.  I like your thoughts on adding some more low-cal fillers i.e. veggies - I think I'll try that, too!
