Officially Scared!
As for the worrying about screwing up, this isn't an operation to make you perfect. There will be good and bad days, struggles and triumphs. But focus on the good days, and the victories...both on and off the scale. Learn from your mistakes. But always believe in yourself. We do.
It ws my first time too for both staying over night and for surgery. No holds barred --- it isn't easy but at 7 years out it was the best thing I ever did for me. Not a regret. I have no health problems beyond RH and deficiencies. I can shop anywhere. I can walk 10 miles a day without my body hurting. I'm no longer the biggest person in the room. A million reasons for enjoying life.

Hi, it is scary when you get there but as soon as they wheel you in but just keep in mind 6 months from now how you will feel. You will screw up, we all do, we are human and you don't break years of bad habits over night, but your body will let you know you screwed up lol trust me, one piece of KFC left me visiting the little girls room several times over almost 2 days lol. Lesson learned. and I still have some issues I am trying to work on but with people on here you will make it. You have all the staff at the hospital and all the experience here for support. It will be wonderful. I am just over 2 months out, a few hickups but I have lost 52 lbs already. You got this.
Leeann,
You, by this point have already prepared and accomplished a lot from lifestyle changes to conquering opti. These things alone minimize any complications. Surgery is another step on this journey and you are going to do fine. I will be thinking of you that day and look forward to hearing how it all went when you are feeling better. The staff at these hospitals are specialists in this field and that is important to remember. You are going to do great and are in good hands.
Thinking of you,
Tara
LeeannSimpson, don't worry! Everything is going to be alright! Your surgery is going to be a success!
My surgery was a month ago @ St. Mike's and everything went perfectly!
The staff was always helpful and they gave me all pain medicine I needed, if you afraid of pain, don't worry.
On the same day, I was walking, going to the washroom and resting very well.
I even told my husband and my family they didn't need to stay there with me because my kids needed them more then me(I have 2 daughters under 3 years old)
Really, relax, rest and go to the surgery with good thoughts that everything will be great!
I honestly think these feelings are normal. I cried the night before my surgery thinking what if... I even cried while I was in the waiting room waiting for my surgery! It certainly took a toll on my nerves I was so scared. But honestly it really is a common procedure anymore you'll do awesome and the worries about after are the same for everyone but if you follow the directions they give you from the hospital you will do awesome! good luck and can't wait til your on the bench!! :)
