TWH Timelines

Does anyone have a ballpark figure on timelines with respect to Surgeon appointments to actual surgery.

I finished my appointments last week and was told my medical was all up-to-date, so how long should I wait to hear before I call TWH?

When I was there last week I heard them say they were booking in 2014? Is this for other appointments or the surgeries?

As long as things have not changed too much over the years they do rounds every Thursday afternoon/evening and then the surgeon appointments get booked. So generally your looking at a couple weeks.

I had my last appts. at the end of June, I got a call 3 weeks later. My dates are in my sig at the bottom. I needed 4 weeks of Opti or my date would have been sooner. 

Some people are getting 2014 dates and some are getting 2013 dates at TWH it depends on a few things.

Also, just because you see one surgeon doesn't mean that is who will be opening you up that day. I saw Okrainec and Urbach did my surgery.

Hi Foy, I`m having my surgery done by Dr. Urbach as well on Sept 16. How did you find him.

He was absolutely fine. Came in after I got changed into my lovely couture surgery gowns and needed to sign my belly. Asked me if I had any questions. Which I did, and he was nice explaining.... I got to meet him for like 5 minutes. I knew it would be him or Okrainec or maybe Jackson, it depends on the rotation I think. I had my gall bladder out as well and he let me know that they would be doing the RNY and the gall bladder if they could, it depends what they saw when they got in and how well the RNY went etc. 

Then the world of residents and intern people took over and there was a herd of folks in the operating room when I walked in. Everyone at TWH was good, the anesthesiologist resident had to take a second crack at my IV but it was fine. The nurses I had on 9B were great.

Surgery was good, got both RNY and gall bladder out. No complaints so far :)

I went to TWH and saw Dr Aarts, my surgeon Dr Cyriac's colleague at my 'meet the surgeon appointment' on January 11, 2013, and was booked for mid-June, but I was lucky enough to get a cancelation for March 11, 2013 at the TEGH.  Surgeons do seem to rotate the duty of meeting patients at TWH as another poster mentioned.  I'm sorry, I don't know the current schedule at TWH.

Hi PepperBB, I waited 2 weeks and then got the call for surgeons appointment 1 week later. Then I met with Dr. Jackson and scheduled my surgery the same day - 6 weeks out.

I have had a conversation with a few people, with respect to appointments, it seems to be hit and miss. My final 3 appointments were originally scheduled in August, September and November. I called for cancellations as they suggested and got quicker appointments that way, just luck of the draw I guess.

With respect to surgeons, I am not picky, as long as there is no issues at the college on their files, I am okay with them.

I think I am just so ancy and ready to move forward with the process LOL I think everyone going through it is.
