Topic: What are you eating/doing today -- Wednesday?

Good morning :)

We were out early this morning. I had a special offer thing from shoppers for bonus points and then when we finished my transaction I realized they didn't apply them. So now I have to submit a claim. Boo.

Sounds like we are going to visit some of my in-laws for lunch and a swim today. Haven't seen them for a while. I'm going to take a cooler of food for me and the little nugget because I have gotten caught before with no food and a supposed lunch that never happened.

QOTD: do you collect points with any stores? I mainly do the PC ones. DH and I have a shared credit card with them -- it was the first financial thing we got together ;)

Post-op four years and four months.

Breakfast - milk

Snack - PB&J

Lunch - sandwich, otherwise TBD

Snack - cheese, peach

Dinner - unknown... Will have to think of something

Snack - SF pudding

All water and vits.

Topic: RE: Weight Loss Surgery Cookbooks

I bought two - FiErst, Fresh Start Bariatric Cookbook (Sarah Kent)- and am REALLY happy with this one. It is a more down to earth cookbook with straightforward recipes- nothing super fancy - deals with from right after surgery through the gamut (i.e. early post-op foods to back to "normal" eating). Has a good introduction- goes into various things about the surgery, what to expect, gives a good breakdown of stages (full liquid to advance to general foods). Then chapters are from BReakfast, Vegetables, Dips and Sides, Vegetarian Dinners, Fish and Seafood Dinners, Poultry Dinners, Pork and Beef Dinners, Drinks and Desserts and Dressings, Sauces and Seasonsings (love this last one and using many of them on a regular basis now). Recipes are basic, easy and use ingredients most of us have in our kitchens - also provides healthy variations on old favourites.

The second I bought was Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery (Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray. Not crazy about it - but it comes down to prefrence. This second one has a lot of what I would term fancier recipes - lots of use of red and white wine in sauces, an emphasis (to my mind) on seafood/fish - which I hate both (am allergic to shellfish too). There are probably a few recipes I would use in this book and it is helpful that they give the various portions for the type of surgery and stage for each recipe - but not really my cup of tea.

Hi! What gym is it at and is it expensive? I'm looking for something affordable. I'm a single mom with 2 kids so always on a budget!? Want to fit in workout time right after work.

Topic: Update

Hello everyone. I had my first follow up after surgery on June 20th. My vitamin D is still low but has improved since last blood work. Nurse told me they expected 26% of weight loss at that point and I had lost 46% which I found amazing coming from them as I myself felt I could have lost more.

So now, I've been stuck. I' ve lost 2 lbs since then and I'm so frustrated. My hair is falling off like crazy I'm afraid I wi be bald soon! I did tell the nurse and she told me to take zinc for 2 months and it might help. She told me biotin will do nothing.

How long have you all been at at stall? How long did it last for you? I want that scale to start moving again! On a positive note I haven't gained.

I'd appreciate any tips or anything that can help get over this stall. Thank you in advance.?

Good afternoon :)

Sorry I was MIA last week -- we didn't have any internet service. We were supposed to be changing service providers but the new company couldn't get us connected and had bad customer service.

Today I was out early to go to a new doctor to see if we can sort out a few things. She wants me to increase my iron supplements in the mean time. I'm going to have to do some research on the tests she has ordered.

QOTD: I have always preferred the elliptical trainer and after losing weight I went with my aunt to a couple Zumba classes.

Post-op four years and four months.

Breakfast - protein shake with strawberries

Snack - beans and rice leftovers

Lunch - sandwich

Snack - cheese stick and cherries

Dinner - chicken and asparagus

Snack - SF pudding

All water and vits.

Happy new week everyone.

The weekend turned out nicer weather wise than expected, so I was outside for most of it just doing odds and ends in the yard. My friend and I enjoyed an evening out and the rest of the weekend was spent with my kids.

QOTD: What is your favorite type of exercise now and what would you like to try that you never have? I'd say I really enjoy my walks at this point but my HIGH target is to eventually try some boxing(not against anyone,,, just a punching bag).

B - greek yogurt

S - didn't have one

L - peel & eat shrimp and sauce, low fat SF bran muffin

S - boiled egg

D - likely a protein shake since I have a meeting at the gym about that time

S - turkey pepperettes

Topic: Weight Loss Surgery Cookbooks

My surgery is mid-September and I'm concentrating on preparation over the summer, including trying out new to me recipes. No shortage of titles, and some specific to the type of surgery. Are they a valuable resource? Does anyone have a recommendation for any of the WLS cookbooks?

Thanks

Welcome!

I would give Dr. Glazer's office a call and see if they received your file from Humber. Dr. Glazer's office will usually call you once they have your file.
