You should have seen the look on her face, she could not believe I was the same person! That was a great moment!

You sound a lot like me. I have been diagnosed with pre diabetes and prescribed Metformin, Borderline high blood pressure (prescribed a low dose of Toporol). In addition, I have recently been prescribed cholesterol medications. All of this within two years. :( I stay fatigued all the time and suffer chronic pain, Fibromyagia, neuropothy, degeneration, and arthritis. I am 5'8 and weigh 296. I have recently been researching gastric bypass and want so desperately to have the Roux-en-Y. I have litterally tried every diet under the sun and took almost every type of diet pill they make. At this point I am in a fight for my life. I am only 39 years old.
Does anyone have any advice?
I also took Metformin and had high BP. And I am 34.
I was also tired all the time and in pain a lot.
I had my RNY on 2-15-11. I am happy with it. I was in a lot of pain and I did have some complications. Still, even with the complications to be able to ose 20 lbs in a month is pretty amazing.
The only thing I wish I had done is research the Gastric Sleeve more. My HMO wil not do the LapBand anymore because of all the complications and removals they have had to do. My HMO also will not do the D/S. So it was between RNY and the Sleeve.
I hope and think that I made the right choice but more reading probably would have been better.
I'm now 3.5 years out from GBS. I initially lost 115 lbs but regretfully have regained about 25 (normal from what I've heard, but I'm working on it :) ).
I'll be totally honest I love the fact that I had this surgery and would do it again in a heat beat, no doubt about it. However, I do struggle with alcohol now. If you have a history of drug or alcohol addiction, do not have this surgery (my opinion). I did not have a problem pre-op, in fact I was pretty much alcohol free off and on over the years (I've re-read some journaling over the years). But now I struggle with it and I HATE that. Everything else has been awesome, don't get me wrong, it's allot of work, but isn't everything worth having???
I am no longer on ANY medication (just LOT's of vitamins!) and I'm going to be 49 in May!!!. I'm no longer diabetic, my A1c has went from 9. something to 6.8..... youzer! My cholesterol is now 145 and my BP after doing 3 flight of stairs to get to my Dr.'s office last week was 127/78 !!!!! Again, sooooo worth it, except for the alcohol problems, so do be aware. I like others had heard about it, but never thought it would be a problem for me.
Good luck, and PM me if you'd like to talk further.

So I just had my surgery on Thursday and came home with a wonderful JP port. I am on the clear liquid diet and i have been drinking Crystal Light Fruit Punch non-stop. Last night I was in pain and decided to take one of my pain pills(boy are they strong). So I am sitting in front of the t..v. and decided it was time to empty my JP drain. I was too lazy to get up so i had a used Fruit Punch cup sitting next to me. Due to the pain meds getting the best of me I accidentally thought I still had a bit of Fruit Punch left to drink and drank my blood. Thank god I realized what it was before I swallowed. I could never be a vampire!
He circled round and again... approached me... stared at me long and hard... and drove right past me.
"O M G... he's checking me out... he's cruising me... he has NO CLUE who I am"
I picked up my phone and called him. "Where are you I've been driving round and round looking for you"
"Well, you know that guy out front of Avis that you've been cruising for the past 5 minutes?" SCREEEEEEECCCCCHHHHHHH
I didn't know whether to be mad or estatic... All I know is I felt HAWT!!
