TEAM NO MEAT!!!!
Kelly, there is more, i don't have time of patience to provide you with my research.
As i said before, there is much more...and some sources you consider reputable have info on their pages that are pure rubbish - as was proven based on latest studies...(fats and carbs)
I had docs telling my me depression was in my head, while in fact it was caused by undiagnosed too low for me levels of some minerals, vitamins and hormones.
I am stubborn and intelligent enough, and make enough money (due to very hard work) that i refused to believe that. Change in my diet, seeking answer to what is really going on really made a huge difference how i am today.
One of that was changing my diet to fat + proteins + small amount of carbs. Ketogenic diet. It proved to me that this works so well... I see and I am in contact with so many people that follow diet like that...they feel so much better...
When a person is "broken" changing what he/she is doing or eating, may prove that diet matters.
I was very broken... Changing my diet was one step of many, that helped me feel like myself again...
Doing what you have been doing all along - you going to get what you are getting...
Change - sometimes it is good to find out if that may be the answer.
I was so depressed that my doc wanted to lock me up...i refused..i took charge...i got out off the darkness...it was a very hard work...
It was a huge step for me, lots of efforts... And the battle never ends.
I am free of anxiety/antidepressants. meds... I no longer get with severe RH, i live higher quality life. Even my sciatica /hips/joints pains spasms got resolved on low inflammatory ketogenic diet. I no longer need to take narco a few times a day during flare ups... I enjoy yoga...and every day life..
I wish to best..and for all consider - research ketogenic low inflammatory diet...who knows? maybe that could help you...but to know that - you may need to be willing to try something new...

I think we are about the same place post-surgery. I am having a hard time with some meats, too. I do not mind the flavor, but the density of them.
Two things that give me some easy extra protein:
1. Silk brand unsweetened soy milk. One cup has 7g protein and just 3g carbs. My plan allows me to have this as some of my liquid, in limited amounts, like once/day.
2. Unflavored gelatin...in the instant-dissolve form of collagen hydrosalate. I love this stuff because it is so easy, and 1 Tablespoon has 6g protein and no carbs, and it is great for mynhair, nails, and connective tissues. I have used it for those things for years. It does have a very slight flavor..mixes well with some things but not others. I like to put 2 Tablespoons into a cup of warm, low sodium beef stock (Pacific brand), for a total protein amount of 16g in the cup. I can have this, once/day, as some of my liquid intake.
(I alternate soy milk/beef stock every other day as an afternoon snack)
I order the gelatin though Amazon. Great Lakes brand.

As much as i like gelatin and use it, it is not a complete protein. So really we can't count that in min proteins requirement. Sorry for the bad news.

Dang! And I was feeling so pleased with myself. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes and no. Our nutritional needs are complex and no single food is a complete source of everything. What matters is that your overall diet is complete in protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. That's why we eat a variety of foods.
So a food like gelatin can contribute to our protein needs just like spinach contributes to our iron needs but we couldn't rely on it exclusively.
More meat for me.
