Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn was born in Ames, Iowa on October 3, 1958. He was proud of so many decisions in life which were always taken by trusting in God. He began his walk as an altar boy with his brothers Michael and Dan. He developed his early walk as a moral and hard-working Boy Scout, becoming an Eagle Scout thanks to the encouragement of his parents. He thanks his sisters Amy Kuhn, Tina Cain, and Patty Kelley with his gradual spiritual and theatrical growth. Through God's grace, he managed to land at Texas A&M, where he met his soul mate and spouse, Mollie. Together, they managed medical school at UTMB in Galveston, then surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center, a Surgical Oncology fellowship at the City of Hope in California, and the arrival of their blessed children, Kristin, Courtney, and Kevin. He treasured their times in Indian guides, dancing, acting, sports, scouts, and wilderness camping with each one, especially Northern Tier and Philmont with Kevin. Dr. Kuhn celebrated 36 years in so many ways and places with his God-joined mate and partner, Mollie. He was also graced with friends like the Shanahan family who brought him closer to a daily walk with Christ, and Dr. John Nemunaitis, who worked so hard to cure him through God's gift of gene and vaccine therapy. Sadly, there wasn't enough time for Dr. Kuhn, but through these efforts there is increased hope for others.
In the course of over 15,000 surgical operations Dr. Kuhn performed, he was often heard to say "the surgeon does the destructive work; The Lord does the healing". Through his many years of scientific research, he was most proud of his work completed with his two daughters which revealed the challenges to Darwinism hoping ultimately that some would begin to see a Creator of all things wonderful.
Dr. Joseph Allen Kuhn was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edward Kuhn last May, and is survived by his wife Mollie Bloodworth Kuhn and their children Kristin, Courtney and Kevin Kuhn all of Dallas, TX; his mother Charlotte Kuhn; two brothers and three sisters as well as brothers and sisters in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Kuhn leaves behind a cavern of emptiness for not only his loved ones, but also to those he skillfully healed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75220. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum and Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Dr. Kuhn's honor to the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Centers 1700 Pacific Avenue, Suite 1100 Dallas, Texas 75201 "In Honor of Joseph Allen Kuhn, M.D.", or online at www.marycrowley.org. Online condolences can be made at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest .com.

Good Friday Everyone,
Grateful it has FINALLY arrived. This has seemed like a longer than normal week. Grateful that the weekend is now upon us. My motivational quote I posted for today I am going to share with you here because it is about being grateful..... Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. - Brian Tracy. Our WLS journey may not always be easy....but we should be so grateful for every step of it. We are learning new things that will help us make good life decisions. I am so grateful for my WLS and for all the support and encouragement here on the forums of Obesity Help. Grateful for all my successes and my failures because during those failures.....I learn much needed life lessons for my WL journey. Grateful for waking up healthy today and for another chance to make better decisions than I did yesterday. Grateful for family, friends, my WLS and all the choices available today. Grateful for support groups and life itself. PLEASE share if you wish what you are grateful for today. Have a amazing weekend.

Good Thursday Everyone,
Well....we've almost conquered this week. LOL Gratefulness is something that we should feel everyday for all the blessings that has come our way everyday whether they have ended the way that we wanted them to or not. Today I am so grateful for life and all that goes along with it. Not happy with some of the choices that my family makes at times and even sometimes with the choices that I myself make but it is what it is. I am grateful for my health, family, friends, God, answered prayers, grateful for my WLS and all the different WLS available. Grateful for support groups, all the forums here on OH, grateful for OH and all the amazing and helpful advice given here on these forums. Grateful for that going on 10 yrs that I have been on OH. PLEASE share if you'd like what you are grateful for today and have a blessed day.
