Did anyone become a....
Hey OH family, I was just wondering if anyone has become a vegetarian since having vsg? It seems like I am leaning toward wanting veggies, not really chicken, shrimp etc. I'm on soft foods now as of today actually
...Yay!
But anyway, I was just curious...I never thought, I would shy away from flesh foods, but my body and mind is telling me otherwise. I have been a coffee drinker for like 18+ years (I'm only 35 so 1/2 my life) and the day I came home from surgery..I wanted something warm (Nut said ok to have coffee) and blak..yucko!
so needless to say I have not touched the stuff in like 3 weeks...crazy how our tast buds change. So if anyone has taken this path I would love to know about it, and also how you might get in all your protein requirements...Thanks everyone...happy losing!

I have been a meat fiend since surgery! I had pulled pork tonight - been eating lots of turkey, chicken and ham. I can't wait to sink my teeth into a really nice filet mignon (just a little nervous that it might be too dense...) Also going cheese crazy - loving it. I did have a little salad tonight - and it was nice - but the meat was the star!
I am eight months out from surgery and I am still unable to tolerate dense proteins such as beef and chicken. Sometimes it works and other times it can be a bad day. My stomach really loves veggies though, so I tend to have a salad for a meal at least once a day. I average about 40-50 grams of protein a day and have no deficiencies so I am okay with the salads since they make my stomach happy. I don't know if I would ever be completely vegetarian but I did think about it a few times when steak or chicken caused stomach trouble.
