Confused!
I just spoke with my nutritionist and she will not give me any guidelines for calories, carbs, etc... She just keeps saying to not worry about those things and to just focus on 70g of protein! WTF!
I need some guidelines to follow or I am never going to lose this weight. I am 5 and a half weeks post op and I don't know what I am doing yet.
Just curious what some of the guidelines are for you guys.... HELP ME!

Hi! this may be b/c you're so early out and don't need to worry about cals so much b/c you probably aren't taking many in yet. I'm 7 mos out and have seen nut and program coord multiple times. the two guidelnes they've given me are 50+ grams of protein and 1000-1200 cals a day. i've lost 65 lbs, not a massive, quick loss, but i'm very satisfied.
i know some people go by the following guidelines, although not feasible for me:
600-800 cals
les than 40g carbs
60-70g protein
64 oz water
so, i'm there with the recommended by my nut protein and the carbs, just not the cals.
hope this helps! it's early days yet. also, let the nut know that you're really concerned about this -- she works for you!!!!

My NUT told me pretty much the same thing and honestly if you stick to just trying to get in your protein it leaves little room for carbs, fats or sugars. You can only eat a tiny amount in the beginning and it doesn't add up to a whole lot of calories. BUT if you must have a number to shoot for... 600-800 cals and less than 50gr of carbs seems to be an average.

I feel like a nut for not realizing that NUT was not a nut but a nutritionist. I was like why are they all calling people nuts. Then it hit me. Duh!
Hahahaa... Sigh!!
I saw my nut today and she said the same thing to focus on protein and calories and she said that if I make sure to focus on protein the rest won't be a problem. She said 600-800 calories and 60-70 grams of protein. She looked at my log and I get anywhere from 35 - 80 grams and she didn't say anything but that it all looked good to keep the focus on Protein :)
Oh, and by the way you do not need to count calories. Just make sure you get in 80 grams of protein/day and do not exceed 6oz of food/meal and 4 oz of food/snack. If you do choose to count calories, your goal is to consume 1000-1200 kcal.day.
I just pasted the above from the e-mail I got from my NUT today. Hope it helps (that seems like a lot of cals) After reading your post I e-mailed a sample of a days menu and that was her reply
