Good Morning to all...

I'm starting my C25K today...I have never ran a day in my life.  I'm sure  there are many on here who use to be abe to say this also.  I welcome any tips that any of you maybe able to give me.
I'm doing this outside.  How did you time yourself?  How do you keep yourself motivated?

Thanks

Jane

What kind of exercise have you been doing up to this point? I walked and hiked a lot for a year before I started jogging recently. It helped strengthen my legs so I could do it - I'm able to jog a mile now.

I use an iphone app called Nike +gps. It has the time and distance on there so you can use either way to time/pace yourself.  I'd probably start with timed intervals - 30 secs running, 2 mins walking or whatever the plan calls for.

I love to run. I really want to be able to run so it motivates me to keep going and getting in better shape. It's amazing to watch yourself progress and that's where I find the motivation to keep going. If you hate it and it feels like a chore, you may not keep at it. Make sure you keep track of your progress so you can look back and see how far you have come. It's almost better than tracking your weight :)

I really like C25K so far. This is my third week but I'm rerunning week 2 cause I feel like I can do better with my pace before I move on.

As far as tips, I try to eat something small (like part of a cheese stick) about 45 minutes before so I have something in me but I've had enough time that I can sip some water during the walks. DON'T drink too much though, at least I can't, cause then when I run I feel nauseous.

I also use the iPhone app "get running" which I really like, I feel like it was the best interface out of the other choices.

Lastly, as far as motivation, I tell myself that anyone can do ANYTHING for a minute or a minute and a half or however long you have to run. LOL. I also tell myself that I am strong and I can do this and I don't want to be where I was ever again. It seems to talk to myself a lot while I run.
